You know those crazy NOW that's what I call music... CD's they've been releasing since the late 90's? There's at least 20 of them now. While it's been said before that tere are too many of them, we now have actual proof of that besides the number of them out there. Specifically, they've just reeased NOW #1's. What is this? It's the 20 best songs ever featured on NOW CDS. 21.gif You can tell it's gotten rediculous when there's a compilation of the compilations.....3.gif20.gif

I myself always wondered why they did that every year.If its called NOW then it should have music from the last 5 years or so...not every couple of months or when ever they want to make more money....

Oh, how true. You know, I never liked those NOW CD ads or the CDs. When I was little, I would cover my ears with pillows and rolled up blankets, close my eyes, and open them when the ad was over.

I remember back then when I got Now... 3. I listened to it for one week... Now I have no clue where it is and, remember, the 3rd came out in the late 90s!!
We all know most of them are stupid! Come on, we only get them to listen to 3 or less out of all the songs on the CD. 18.gif
I say they'll have Now... 100 at 2018.

Edited: OH! OH!  Does anyone remember the knock-off with Kid Bop. It was like Now except for kids. What a joke!

2020 will be the date and I too hide from those ads....Maybe not be going under blankets, but by changing the channel.Either that or turning up my own radio....

Half the songs sucked and the other half were songs that should be bought on their own album and not these crappy CDs....

Exactly! I've never really bought into the whole compilation craze; I do have a couple Greatest Hits albums, but they're all by a single artist/group. I find that by purchasing the actual artist's album as opposed to buying a compilation CD with the song you like on it, you'll potentially discover other good songs by that artist that aren't as over-hyped. In my own personal experience a couple years back, there were a couple songs by the group Default I liked, so I went out and bought one of their albums - Default is now my favourite musical group and I like every one of their tracks, most of which I never would have heard otherwise.

There ok. I agree, most of the songs suck and you have to skip them.

Seriously! In the realm of Christian music they annually release a Wow (year)...This last year they came out with Wow #1's...the compilations aren't bad for a good sampling...but I usually have most of the songs anyways...so yeah....worthless to me...

I hate to break it to you guys... but the now thats what I call music will not stop
The UK is already on No. 65(I might be off a few numbers)...The US is now just getting to 20
if the UK is on that number...its a clear indication that the US version will keep going

*shrugs*

How, dare they compile compilations of compilations...

its bad enough that they cannot make their own music, but do they have to take good artists names and blackwash em like this... okay, so most of those artists are crap anyway... so who cares...

Edguy all the way!

Argh! It's the evil powers of MARKETING! Nooo... but really, as long as there's a crazed monkey out there somewhere that will buy them, they'll keep making them.

WARNING DONT BUY THIS CRAP PEOPLE!

I am now convinced that the only was to get  decent music now is to go see a good club band.

enough mixing to make the sound good, but not enough for total lipsyncing.

Oh don't even get me started on that. Kidz Bop is 1000 times worse. With NOW, they may edit out any language and whatnot, but at least it's the actual song. Kidz bop completely butchers all the music by having choruses of kids sing it.

Now, granted, we're just not the target audience with it. It's geared towards little kids, who often prefer music that's being sung by kids. The idea is to get kids to listen to the music that everyone else is listening to instead of Old McDonald had a farm and whatnot. In fact, Kidz Bop is very popuar among little kids.

Maybe I just don't connect with it. When I was little, I woud alway be listening to the oldies station (which my mom always had in the car).

But yeah, Kidz Bop sucks more.

Oh yeah, I spelt it wrong... Kidz Bop. That was much worse. The kids in the background sounded terrible. Off tune, off pitch... just pure madness. What were the creators of that CD(s) thinking? Yes, let's create a CD with kids singing in the background... the kids may just be kids picked up off the street that have never singed before in their lives, but, hey, they're kids!. 21.gif

I don't understand why it is people (even children) would even want to listen to that (Kidz Bop)
I mean, when I was a kid, I even found the sound of kids singing pop songs to be pretty irritiating. Even now, it especially irritating. Like buying a CD where each track is a different irritating sound.
In fact, I might actually be more likely to buy the irritating noises cd, since (despite being unpleasent) it's at least funny:

Track 1: Lawnmowers in an apartment complex
    Track 2: Grabage Truck
    Track 3: Noisy Public-Restroom fan
Track 4: Wind howling past broken weather-stripping
    .... you get the idea

(BTW, I think there may actually be a cd of these kinds of sounds somewhere)

Plus, I don't listen to any of that rigidly mainstream pop they offer on those CDs. Indie music is totally where it's at these days :P

well....IMO I think they are anyyoying and stupid...I remember when NOW 7 was being advertised then it simply vanished....but they kept going up the numbers if you were to look at the music rack at a store you'd see that....then somehwere around 11 they surfaced again...Kidz bop I think was actully based on another thing like it that failed...or it may be the other way around...Kidz bop drives me crazy...I mean...it's Expolding with popularity(you can tell by how the ads are improving with the effects and cameras from the originals)...but IMO I think that Advertising music CD's is stupid...and annyoying since you get only that little snippet of the song stuck in your head...32.gif

I actually just saw a commercial for the Kid Bopz or whatever last month and I was appalled! First, the kids singing are HORRIBLE singers. They put some of the hopefuls on American Idol to shame. Second, they're singing GREEN DAY songs! And not just any GD song, but wake me up (when Sept. ends)!? DO CHILDREN KNOW WHAT THIS SONG IS ABOUT? Did the producers of this album say Let's butcher one the few good songs to come out of the 9/11 tragedy.

Speaking of which, I'm constantly amazed at how popular songs of that album (American Idiot) are on the radio. I realize it's all about money and airspace but this album is really angry. If you listen to the whole thing through, it's sort of a Punk Opera which really rants against modern American society and govt. It makes me wonder if Never Mind The Bollocks came out right now (instead of 25 or so years ago), if it would be jsut as popular? That would be crazy.

    Kidz Bop...14.gif14.gif14.gif

They take great songs like Wake Me Up When September Ends, Dar You To Move, and like any other song that is good, and tons of bad songs and they destroy them, literally destroy them...kids are supposed to sing kiddy songs lol...

When I was younger I never wanted to listen to kids singing, that was very annoying...I listened to stuff similar to what I listen to now...

The whole music industry is overpriced. Do you remember when LPs used to be .25$? 20 years ago I could buy vinyl (which has SO much better sound quality than CDs) for a MAXIMUM of 10% of what a CD costs today! That's not a ripoff? And the MPAA wonders why P2P is so rampant??

I very rarely buy a CD nowadays and only then from bands that I really like and want to support financially but I can count them on one hand (Sleater-Kinney, Audioslave, U2, etc.). Everything else I'll d/l simply because half the time i'll only keep 2-3 songs/album.
