I know this poll has better locations to be in, but I thought it was off-topic so here it goes: (Thanks Skigeek for deleting the mess up!)

City Life is the future clone of Simcity. Its topic can be found here: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=64760

For people like me who have no idea what you are talking about, maybe a description of what City Life is would be helpful. As of now, I would send it to the bit bucket.

EDIT: OK, now I have been able to view the trailers. This is not even close to being a urban planning simulator like SC has been in the past. I like the graphics but I am reminded of SC3KU. Of course, I didn't like TS2, so maybe this is a little too close to that for what I want.

I want SC5 to continue SC4 with better graphics (3D) and point rather than square grid. I also want all the junk out of it. That means break the link to The Sims(2) and get rid of UDI. Also get rid of the monster movies and get some real water tables with weather. etc. etc. ad nauseam.

WRT CJ's. No. Keep it in Other Games.

Once it comes out, you should be able to do CJs with it because it is a City Journal, it doesn't need to be a simcity 4 one. (There was a simcity 3000 one in there, and possible a 2000 as well)

Once it's out, I'd say yes. I expect SimCity will always be dominate here, but it would be nice to see a little variety

I concur with Eastwinn.  There will likely be enough sites out there to handle City Life CJs. Besides, Simcity and City Life aren't exactly congruent with each other.

Yes, my mind has blanked out, and I used a word usually reserved for polygons.

NO! Let it have it's own site.  I don't see much similiarity between the two and besides, who has time to play both?  Your either going to stick with SimCity or go over to City Life.  Only those without a life will try playing both at the same time.10.gif

I have to say Why not?

It seems like Maxis has abandonned the SimCity franchaise, and this seems closer to what we would hope SC5 would be like (Diagnol bridges, different climates, full 3D view...) It seems like this would be the so called heir of SimCity. So yes, I see no difference whether a CJ uses SC4 or CL.

You know that's crap. EA will be announcing SC5 soon, I should think. (they already own the domains simcity5.com-simcity9.com) Everyone said this after the sims became popular, but I know Will Wright won't let this die. If EA don't publish it he'll go indie!

And on topic, I don't see why CL shouldn't be allowed, if the cities are interesting and look nice, why not? I might add though, that for all it's faults, Cl won't come close to the SC4 game engine.

first off, what is simtropolis?

simulation of a city. right?

many cities, one community by this citylife could be incorportated. I think it all depends on what Simtropolis is? a maxis sc site or a site for all city sim games.

Personally I don't think citylife cjs should be included in the my CJ forum, however opening up a my CL CJ could be a positive thing, competition, it would create better journals.

i don't like citylife so far but including it here be bring positive results. because thats what we're ultimately here for right, is a better city simulation wether it be sc or cl or whatever?

I say yes. I mean, it's a city, and you can make a journal. Notice it says 'City Journals', not 'SimCity Journals'.

Also, I think this thread is sort of a bad idea. If someone just made a journal with CityLife, I doubt there would have been some controversy.
I'm not blaming you, Micah, I'm just saying...

I said yes, however I think it would be better if a new forum was made for it. To justify the new forum, it could be a mix of city life discussion/tips/journals, and if the forum becomes to busy, then maybe there could be another seperate forum just for the CL journals.

My 2 cents, anyway.

Indeed. Whether you like City Life or not, it's still a city-building game, and there's no golden rule that says SC4 is the only game you can make a CJ out of. I personally am not a huge fan of TS2, but you don't see me wailing on the ST Staff to save bandwidth by getting rid of the TS2 section of ST. I say let the CL CJs in, there really is no harm in doing so. As a previous poster said, perhaps a City Life section of the site could be opened if people are wary of Monte Cristo taking over the CJ forum.

No, simply because people came to ST for SC4, if other want to CJ their cities in City Life I say they find a different forum, it will only be a big mess IMO

True. But I still think there would have been a small controversy. Let's see what happens when someone post a City Life CJ in the CJ section. That will be interesting.
Edit: Very interesting how yesterday the overwhelming majority was No, now the majority is Yes.
