Region map glitch

I suspect this has been posted a hundred times already but I didn't see anything about it and searching seems broken. In in the attached picture of Sydney Harbour, all large maps have a broken edge nearest the camera.

This happens with SC4:HR with all the updates. It's happened on every computer I've used (Athlon XP2000 Radeon 9800, P4 3Ghz Radeon X800, P4M 2Ghz Geforce Go 7800GTX, all with the latest drivers) and has happened for the last about 12 months or so, unfortunately I dont know when it started but I don't think it happened at first. It does not happen on any of the preloaded regions or any regions I create in the game so I guess it's to do with custom config.bmp files. It happens with or without mods installed.

Hi,

That appears to be a badly saved city thumbnail. It happens to me in some cities of my region. This is nothing to do with the config.bmp.

So far that I can think of, try re-saving each city that has a bad thumbnail in city view, and go back to the region view. That thumbnail should be fixed.

While saving each city, it is best not to do anything else until the 'city saved' dialog appears.

Enjoy your visit. 1.gif

yea, ppl reported this one before...it's the old large city high resolution glitch...basicly it's nothing more than an eyecandy glitch that appears in the game when you have the game setting set to the highest resolution 1600x1200, to my knowlege theres never been a fix for this promblem...it has no effect on the game but if you wish to take region shots...drop your resolution down open the cities and resave them at a lower resolution and it will dissapear

Maybe it started when I upgraded my graphics card then.

FWIW, I'm running it at 1920x1200, not 1600x1200, although my old machines ran it at 1600x1200. I wonder what happens if I try a different res like 1920x1199 if I can get that to work.

it's not the monitor setting hun...it's the game setting...eg the setting for city detail, building draw speed...clouds..etc etc

check your setting and make sure you have all driver updates for your card too...29.gif

new graphic glitches with new cards is quite common....but I'm unaware of anyfix for this particular problem expect the way in above statement

    @ Quboid

I have the same problem since I got a larger screen. I'll try the suggestions offered.

Question though: how did you get Simcity to play at 1920x1200? I can only raise it to 1600x1200 and have to deal with the distortion.

he didn't...you can set your monitor at any you like ,if the monitor and your graphic card allow you too but the games max resolution is still 1600x1200...i know of no way of altering this setting to a higher amount

if your getting distortion in the game set you monitor setting to 1600X1200 or close amnd make sure you not set to widescreen
