I just noticed that my last post (Congratulating Vandy on his being named a moderator) was given a date and time of 1/20/2006 1:09:26 AM  and the actual date and time where I'm at is 1/19/2006 10:10:00 PM.  That would be closer to East Coast time and I'm on the West Coast.  Are all the times and dates recorded as of that time regardless when and where in the world their posted?  Now that I think about it that's a pretty stupid question.  Otherwise there would be no way to keep an accurate track of posting times.  I was thrown off for a minute by seeing tomorrow's date.  Forget I asked.  Time to go to bed. 10.gif

Yes, all posts are in simtrop time, also known as East Coast time, also known as GMT -5.  This is because the site is based on Toronto.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Localization would make things way too complicated...I am happy everything is all on one clock.

hmmm I myself have long wondered why the East Coast...Even if Dirk is on the East coast...Wouldn't it make more sense to base the time on where the largest amount of members live?

I don't mean let everyone have their own time settings, but to offer the largest group the time slot...

I'm sure we have tons of European that'd agree, but I'm not here to start an arguement...

Well I guess things shall be as is...East coast time may be very odd to many but whatever....

I got used to it and I'm pretty stupid...17.gif

A simple glance at our handy Geo Visitors link would show that GMT-5 (EST) IS in fact where the plurality of our visitors come from.

ST time is based on the EST time zone, think it where the site is based is the time used on almost any site... or just so dirk when he looks at his computer, know when he should leave for work10.gif

unless he is playing simcity and then he might not see the time and just forget to go....18.gif
