I finally got my ACT scores back.  I got a 27!44.gif  On my first try...with little to no studying whatsoever.  And the one at my school who constantly outdoes me only got a 21 on his.  I'm so excited!  I can't even believe I got a 27!  Somebody pinch me.  I must be dreaming.

I have no idea how the ACT is scored... is a 27 good?  Congratulations anyway.

Now my sandardized test story.  I'm currently in sophomore year of high school, so I can't take the SAT (my school doesn't offer the ACT) yet.  But because of some weird new law, all sophomores must take the PSAT.  The new SAT is scored out of 2400 (new writing section), and the PSAT is scored out of 240.  Reading is 80, math is 80, and writing/grammar is 80.

I also did little practice.  I just skimmed the study booklet the College Board provided our school.  I got a 68 (680) in reading, a 69 in math, and a 65 in writing.  That was the 98th-or-so percentile, I recall.

Someone else in my school - the one that is unanimously considered the smartest in our class - got a 210 (2100).  I am amazed.

Fot the fact that the PSAT only covers up to geometry, the math section was quite hard.  The hardest problems cover algebra 2 topics and advanced symbolic stuff that confuses me.

Congrats on the score (since you say it's good, I'm assuming you did well).  I'm going to have to take the SAT this May or June and Rita coming in when it did isn't going to help my score any.  However, because the universities look at your score in comparison to your peers, I have an advantage that most of the other students in my area won't.

Congrats to both of you on your scores! I think the ACT is out of 34 possible.

I haven't taken the ACT before, but I took the PLAN (preparatory ACT test) last year (my sophomore year) and scored a 30 on it, out of 32 possible. I was shocked, only practice I had done was the study booklet provided by the school. I plan to take the ACT sometime this spring.

I also just got the results back from the PSAT test I took this past fall. I got a 73 on reading, 66 in math, and 73 in writing, for a total of 212, 98th percentile of juniors. I was really surprised here too, mainly because I took it last year and only scored a 187, and didn't even finish the study booklet this year. I guess I just take standardized tests really well. I also plan to take the SAT this spring.

Anyone else here taking any of these tests? Are there other tests given in different countries?

Congratulations on the great score!

I never took the ACT or SAT, however, I did take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Apptitude Battery) as part of my entrance into the US Air Force and received a 97 (percentile). It was too bad for me that military had just a year before made the ASVAB just a little bit harder or I would have received a 99. The big reason I was happy with the score is that it provided me with more leaverage when requesting a medical waiver for my vision.

Again, congrats on the great score. I hope this helps you in your endeavors towards college or what ever else you plan to do!

Congrats! 27 is sure to open a lot of doors to you for scholarships and whatnot.

Studying for that test won't really do you any good. You have to work so fast to get through all the questions that you barely have time to blink. I got a good night's sleep before taking the test, and that is probably the best thing you can do to help.

I got a 31 on that test the second time around in order to qualify for a scholarship, but I wasn't able to take the test until after the deadline for the scholarship so it didn't do me a darn bit of good. My sister and two of my friends got 34, and I have no idea how.

On the ISAT (Illinois State Acheivement Test) i got a 99 percentile overall... 99 means the top 1% of the state 1.gif

Congratulations on your great test score.  Your probably smarter than you think you are.  Imagine what some serious studying might have done.  A little luck doesn't hurt either.  10.gif

Congrats! A 27 is excellent on the ACT.

Incidentally, did you know you actually get 6 points just for putting your name?18.gif

As to the guy you compete with, I can certainly relate. I scored a 31 on my ACT, and he STILL beat me with a 34. Ehh, go figure.

Yes, congrats on your ACT score of 27, JaxCoJazz!

I've only taken the ACT once, and that was when I was in seventh grade. I scored a 19 on it then, but I think that was just very fortunate.

I plan to take the ACT again this spring or summer. I hope I do better than 18 now though, considering that I'm a sophomore!
