So at the risk of looking completely stupid here, I need help please. I'm trying to install NAM lite and to do that I need java apparently, I downloaded a folder from adoptium called OpenJDK21U-jdk_x64_windows_hotspot_21.0.7_6 and there didn't appear to be any installer in it other than a java.exe which I clicked and it opened a command prompt which closed immediately. I freaked out and did a full windows defender scan which came back clean. I  am safe right, that exe didn't do anything did it?

I don't know what to do, why cant there be an everymans way of installing it. sorry if this is annoying to some of you but I just want to install NAM lite. I'm not the greatest with complicated install steps. Most mods I've downloaded for games come with simple installers.

OMG! my bad everyone, I just went to the proper java site and now I can install the mod. in my defence the requirements page recommended an entirely different site. I guess that's for developers. I just hope that exe I clicked didn't do anything. I feel like such an idiot.

Just in case people don't see the edit to my last post, I'd like to say I'm sorry for the mistake on my part. I'm going to paste what I wrote here.

decided to leave this here as a reminder of the imperfections of man and how easily it can be to get confused.

It's quite easy to get mixed up with SC4 stuff. Some of it is more complicated than others. No worries.

Btw, your topic came up first in my list of new things to look at and I moved it to the NAM forum. Then after I read your edit, I added a message to the title saying it's "Self Solved". The topic is here now.

If you'd like, I can use my magic powers and hide the whole thing so no one else peeking in later will notice. (Let me know if you want me to whisk it away.)

Bottom line you must have Java installed to run the NAM installer. We bundle the open-source adoptium version but any compatible version of Java will work. Sounds like there was some problem installing it and getting the version from Oracle solved the issue for you.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.
