Need some help with Yoot Tower / Sim Tower 2

Hello so I have played Sim Tower on and off for over 10 years and while I tried to follow guides I still wasn't the best at it. Recently I decided to play Yoot Tower and have currently reached level 2. For now, I have decided to focus on building hotels starting with the smallest rooms.

I thought I did everything right but for some reason, some of the rooms are showing red at certain times of the day, I was experimenting with putting offices on the ends of the floor with the hotel in the middle and some in between and thought that might be the cause but as you can see the rooms next to the offices are still blue so I'm not sure if that's the reason. Also I have a maid station on every floor that has rooms.

So any ideas on why some of the rooms might be showing red during certain times of the day?

I have no clue how to help as I never did play this one. (I had the disc and did install it long ago, but just never got into it.)

I presume those two pics fully explain the trouble if someone knows the game?

Sorry I edited I post with more info since for some reason I couldn't put text in the body when I first posted it

Much better. At least now I know more specifically how I won't be any help. *

If it's just a one time thing, we blame it on Gremlins and ignore it. Otherwise you can let us know in the bug thread if it causes too much trouble.

Good luck with your Tower. *:)

I've played this game a lot over the years. Prima published a strategy guide and you can find it here: https://archive.org/details/sim-tower-strategy-guide

That being said, it's generally better not to mix occupant types on the same floors. they can annoy each other. so you'd have floors dedicated to hotel rooms, floors for offices, and floors for restaurants, shops, and fast food places. also, the theaters and party rooms go on those floors as well.

Generally, red is used to indicate businesses that aren't getting enough customers, or the tenants are dissatisfied, or hotel rooms that haven't been cleaned.

    hope this helps.

I laughed at your first sentence. Also, I think it was just a one-time glitch since I tried it again later, and it seemed to be working then, however I will be sure to report any issues if they continue to persist.

Thank you for the help. Actually, now that I think about it I don't have any offices on the floors with hotel rooms. However, I do have some floors with offices at the ends and apartments in the middle and they seem to be doing fine. So if the rooms are red it might be because they aren't being rented but I am not sure how to get more customers. As far as I can tell the rooms look like they get cleaned. Also just to clarify the guide you provided looks like it for the original sim tower game. Will it also work for the sequel Yoot Tower?

I'm kinda hazy on the history of the game, but it was created by a guy named Yoot for Maxis way back in the dark ages. when Maxis basically stopped supporting it, Yoot got the rights back. I've played both in the last 10 years. They're basically the same game. There are differences I encountered, but those were more due to platform (MacOS vs IOS) than actual gameplay differences. I had a Sim Tower version I played on my 2015 MacBookPro, but after an OS upgrade, it stopped working. Then I found Yoot Tower in my iPad's App Store, so have played on it.

If anyone knows of a version of either that'll play on my 2024 M4 Mac Book Pro I'd love to know!

Whether it's hotel rooms, apartments, offices, whatever, click on the EVAL button. you should get a magnifying glass. (double )click on that, and it'll tell you what the problem is with the room, or whatever. common problems: too far from elevator, not enough customers, noisy neighbors, unsatisfactory conditions (usually too long to get elevator service). what I do to get new occupants is lower the rental rate on the item. That works for most problems. If you can fix the underlying problem (tweak the elevator, for example) try raising the rent again. it may be fine. Restaurant and Fast Food usually will fix themselves as the day goes on. Make them easily reachable by office staff for lunch (3 floors above lobby, one floor below, with escalators/stairs).

Also, mix up the Fast Food, Restaurants, and shops on those floors so customers have to pass all of them, good for the shopping! On rainy days, they may all take a customer hit, but will be fine the next day.

    hope this helps.

I'm way out of my league to know what will or won't run on a Mac, but this at least looks encouraging.

Oh, wait: From Mac OS 7.1 up to Mac OS 9.2 prolly kills the idea.
