Hi Guys,

I'm recently experiencing a problem whereas I get random CTDs which keep happening especially when I zoom the view out.

I believe this situation might have had to do with the missile range replacement that I installed recently. After I removed it, I was able to play and zoom in/out for a very long time but eventually the crash have occurred nonetheless.

Attached, please find three crash reports that the game saved to my docs folder. The last crash (timed 19:48) is from after I have deleted the missile range replacement. Can you decipher anything peculiar in those files?

I think zoom crashes are caused by some poorly set prop. It is a bit difficult to diagnose the problem as it can be caused by any prop (including NAM). I advise you to carry out tests using mods one at a time to understand which mod is causing the problem

Have you tried setting the CPUCount to 1, as illustrated below? SC4 has a commonly known issue where certain actions, mostly zooming out, can cause CTD's. SC4 cannot handle multicore processors very well, which makes the game dangerously unstable, and setting the CPUCount to 1 limits the game to only using 1 processor core. This may slow down performance, but it will greatly enhance stability.

    What would a "poorly set prop" look like? Is there no easy way to actually pinpoint the offending object?

    I noticed that each time a crash occurs log contains such lines:

    GZDllGetGZCOMDirector() + 402585

    Are the numbers used after the "GZDll" bit identifiers for the invalid items? *:???: If yes, is there a way to find them by this number?

    Thanks for the tip @11241036. I have actually been convinced that I run the game with just one core, but today, following your advice, checked my settings.

    It turns out that I have been using all eight cores most of the time, because I run the game through launcher and never actually bothered to see what the CPU tab was trying to show me... :}

    I switched the game to a single core. Not sure if this will help, but it certainly won't do any harm either.
