    February 1970

Due to implications that Bounty Islands was seeing a decline in the population, President Juan Pérez initiated a study at Department of Political Science from 1968 to 1971 to investigate the development in the population. Birth, death, immigration etc. The survey will be included in the large “1971 Facts and Figures” publication, coming in march 1971.

    The votes are counted:

The Workers Front with Antonio Sanz get 24,9% and 9 seats in parliament.

The Christian Democrats with Juan Pérez get 25,8% and 10 seats in parliament.

The Right-Libertarians with Rubén Álvarez get 25,4% and 9 seats in parliament.

Nationalist Action with Alicja Schäfer get 23,9% and 9 seats in parliament.

23,8% of the eligible decided to stay and home.

The Christian Democrats with President Juan Pérez got exactly the same % of votes, holding power as the largest party. The Right-Libertarians had a very good election, taking additional 1,2% of the votes, most likely due to the defense ministers Rubén Álvarez’s determination regarding the construction of M. Leroy Firearms. Both The Workers Front and Nationalist Action lost voters.

President Juan Pérez (Christian Democrats) form a new government with the same parties, but Rubén Álvarez (Right-Libertarians) will get the important foreign ministry, pushing Antonio Sanz (Workers Front) down to the defense ministry, as political commander of the military and secret service.

    Bounty Islands Chronical

    The official Bounty newsletter

    June 1970

The vision of Arthur M. Leroy to reform agriculture production was finalized with the demolition of the last manure depot in may 1970. Sadly, soon after a horrible heatwave hit the islands, resulting in a drought affecting all plantations and ranches. In addition, fires broke out in some of the dry haystacks and vegetable depots on the farms.

    Spoiler

    Part One, Infrastructure:

A new bus line connecting Lucia Village in south District with the city started service in 1970. (the heat affect the air-photos, but its readable)

    64cX5UE.jpg

To cut transport cost and get faster delivery to end costumer, Schubert Holding and M. Leroy JV cooperated in the construction of “South Industrial Harbor”. A new port located at the south side of Ruben Ruiz Strait, close to where the strait runs into the Caribbean Sea. In the process they also bought up the two truck depots operating on Cepero Islands and built another smaller location, forming S/L Shipping. The independent operation of free truck drivers organized in “City Trucks” at the north side of the strait was not affected.

As mentioned earlier development in the following three City Districts, Presidente Jakub District, Harbor District and Saint Mary’s District have been little to none, the only City District that has seen remarkable changes or development since 1957 is Cattle Road. The heatwave again affecting air-photos quality.

    Cattle Road District:

Also, The North District have seen some changes, hippie Camp, Army base and more

    North District:

    q5cmiDx.jpg

Cepero Town has seen some remarkable development, especially in the Industrial Area, east of the town center. With new factories and the port.

    Cepero Town District:

    TTJXLmB.jpg

The South District the area with most significant development since 1957. No longer just a farming district, it now contains several mines, a factory and more residential buildings in Lucía Village.

Facts and figures, Mar. 1971 - Part Three - Demographics

President Juan Pérez received the population survey “Growth – Homes – Unemployment 1967 - 1970“ last month, he commented:

” We are proud to see that the decline we saw in the end of 65 and 66 has been turned around to a nice yearly population growth. Of course, everyone hopes to see unnatural death rates close to zero, but at least we have more than halved it over this period. The homeless rate also improved and we must accept approx. 4% homeless unless the proper tax payers should pay for maintenance on endless numbers of vacant apartments. Strangely there is some people who prefer a self-made shelter. Regarding the unemployment, we the government can’t accept a vacant job rate higher that 1%. If you, the good hard-working population want a bright prosperous future. There must be some unemployment, people change jobs, right? But admittedly the rate is slightly higher right now, that we would like to see. In the numbers below you will see that our people are gradually getting a higher living standard, is it not what it is all about. Who cares how many Millionaires, as long as no people starve?"

    2TgpAzC.jpg

Figures in (x) latest survey from 1957

Out of the workforce, 31,1 % (25,0%) have some education, mainly from “Lower Educational Institute”, 5,1% (7,3%) have a higher degree taken outside of Bounty Islands. One of the vacant job positions require higher education.

Out of the total population, 0,6% (0,9%) can be considered extremely underprivileged, 55,3 (56,1%) relatively poor, 42,1 (42,0%) relatively wealthy and 1,07% (0,9%) Rich, 0,9% (0%) Millionaires. Luckily there are no children in the first group.

    Total Population 745 (645), “Child <5” 28 (54), “Child 5-17” 104 (61) , “Adult” 601 (523), “Retired” 12 (7)

The oldest living person on Bounty Islands is Jaques Girard 74 (76) years old

At the same time we got a drought affecting all ranches and plantations on the islands. I will just mention the good result from the banana plantations. And last but not least a great result from Heinrich Taka Shellfish, a small result compared to the larger industries but 20 ton of scallop exported and 8064 lb sold locally is remarkable from just one boat.

I must talk directly to you, the owners and say: We have to cut cost, educate our workforce and if necessary, hire better managers. Bounty needs high class industry, only you my friends, can deliver that!”

Sister Birgitta and Ibrahim Ahmad, April 1972

In the early sixties Sister Birgitta was living in a house with her daughter Martina, running the Order of Fen as she had already done for years. Now Martina has moved out and Sister Birgitta have chosen to move into a smaller, but still top-class apartment, at the 2nd floor in a yellow house close to Cepero Crossing, with a perfect view of the city. Sister Birgitta is now 54 years old.

Martina (27) met Palestinian immigrant Ibrahim Ahmad (28) and already got two children with him. Majed Ahmad (2) and Mikail Ahmad (1), Martina is pregnant again. Martina works at the coffee plantation in Cepero Town, supporting the family as Ibrahim struggles to find a job. They live in a small but nice apartment at Cepero Main Waterfront, not as exclusive as it was 10-20 years ago.

    June 1972:

The Government persuaded R. Johnson Holdings to move the goat ranch out of Cepero Town and over to the foot of Cepero Island Mountains, to make room for a new public radio station, making sure every citizen was reach. President Juan Pérez was heard on both radio stations today: The war has dragged on in Europa for generations, and we honestly had a prosperous time making deals with both sides, now it is time to choose and do business only with what we hope will be the winning side. Negations of a long-term alliance just started.

    Marts 1973

The Industry and Administration have long been talking about getting higher education on Bounty Islands, to avoid the better students moving elsewhere to be educated and often not coming back. With the economy seeing an all-time high, the politicians can now deliver a monumental project, Bounty City University. Located at pasture road in Saint Mary’s District.

    Aurora Brissi, Dec. 1974

In the 1950 Aurora was exploring the jungle behind West Mountain Chain looking for resources especially oil, in the 1960’s she lived with the native tribes in East Bounty Jungle, attempting to uncover the origins of local ancient iron tools and weapons. More recently she has led small groups of paratroopers, raiding behind enemy lines on Caribbean islands as well as South America. Stealing or destroying enemy resources.

At the home front, 47 years old Aurora Brissi, daughter of Doctor Lorenzo Brissi, is still living with technical engineer Stefano Fiore (59). Unusual for a family with such good jobs, they have settled in a tiny apartment at the outskirts of Presidente Jakub District.

Sister Birgitta died 56 years old from cancer. Sister Birgitta was the leader of the “Order of Fen” from 1947 to her death. She will leave behind her daughter Martina Ahmed (30), her son in law Ibrahim Ahmad (31) and their three children Majed Ahmad, Mikail Ahmad and Yasmin Ahmad.

Greta Navarro died 73 years old. Greta was the widow of Sergio Navarro, the creator of the now renowned “Gaia’s birth of Jesus” monument. Mother of Josefa Sanz who died in 1973 and grandmother of her children Carlos, Nora and Laura. Greta Navarro was also the mother of Adrián Ciccone and grandmother of the child he got with his first wife, Anton Ciccone.

Last year we heard that Jose Johnson heir to R. Johnson Holdings, got is girlfriend Yelena (23) pregnant. Sadly, the daughter passed away within the first few months.

    Andreas Wolf February 1975

Famous artist Andreas Wolf, husband of Mafalda Wolf. Have been working on a monumental sculptural project in the East Bounty Jungle over the last ten years, while making a living selling oil paintings. He revealed the artwork named “Faces of Power” today, reactions were mixed from brilliant over exceptional to trash. Some saw it as perfectly fitting into the jungle nature, other that it was destroying the natural habitat of jungle flora and fauna.

Senna and David Clarke July 1975

Back in 1965 Senna Clarke had moved into a nice home in Old Cepero Village, nowadays normally just referred to as Cepero Town. She still lived in the house with her husband David. She has the same job at Schubert Processed Food. David still works with faming, now on R. Johnson’s cotton plantation. Seemingly nothing has changed, but it has. They lost their son Amir in a tragic accidence in 1972 and with that also the possibility of grandchildren. Their older son Brandon not likely to get any. They are living with the fact that their family will die out, it is their fate, but it saddens them.

    Sister Sullivan Jan 1976

41 years old Sister Sullivan became the new leader of “The Ordre of Fen”. She moved the leadership back to where at all started, running the religious sect from Fenna Chapel. There was no fitting leader for Alicja Chapel, for now it would be led by Sister Sullivan herself, 38 years old Sister Jansen would lead Sergio Worship.

After Sister Birgitta had introduced children into the nunnery’s, it has become the believe that the nuns represented the fertile image of Holy Mother Gaia, and the nuns was allowed to get children and live with them, either in the nunnery’s or in nearby homes. The norm was to have different men, to avoid falling in love with them. Sister Sullivan had three children, Dolores, Lucas and Valeria.

    Adrián Ciccone Family July 1976

One of the most tragic incidents happened in Bounty Islands history, this Friday. A large group of young people held a party in a house on North Harbor Road, Presidente Jakub District. While the young people were drinking and listening to Led Zeppelin upstairs, fire broke out at the ground floor. The firefighters could not get through the heavy heat and flames, 7 out of 11 youngsters inside burned to death. Amongst the casualties was Adrián Ciccone’s 19 years old son Anton. His 2nd wife Norma Ciccone’s 15 years old son Álvaro and her 14 years old daughter Susana. Norma Ciccone’s 20 years old son Javier survived, with two broken legs, jumping from an upstairs window.

Adrián Ciccone is the son of Greta Navarro and step-son of Sergio Navarro. In the early 60’s Adrián and Norma Ciccone both lost their partner and found comfort in each other, moving into a large apartment at North Harbor Road next to Saint Mary’s Church, where they are still living. Today Norma works at the People's Market. Adrián at Ramos Construction Company. Norma's son Javier Weber has moved out to live with his girlfriend Barbara, in a small, cheap, social apartment in Plateau Village, they both work at “Leone Family Cocoa Plantation” at the plateau.

His wife is a bit older and takes care of their home, receiving a small sum from the welfare office. They have moved to another small apartment a little further south, next to “Radio South R2”.
