    December 1991

The pressure on the religious services have been huge for many years, the people sometimes coming hours before the start to secure a seat. With a large donation from Andreas & Mafalda Wolf foundation, The Catholic Church of Bounty have managed to fund the construction of Bounty City Cathedral. First bishop will be Adam Laurent, who arrived from Vatican City the 17th of December. Catholics constitute 41,2% of the population, The Ordre 24,7%, Spiritual Baptist 18,6%. Some people take part in both Catholic and The Ordre’s services. The remaining 15,5% covers mainly Protestants, Islamists and Atheists.

    José Johnson Apr. 1992

Yelena and José Johnson lost their firstborn Carla as a baby back in 1974, but got another two children Carina and Aleto in the late 70’s. Yelena got pregnant again in 1984 and gave birth to their third daughter Moria. Despite the fact that they could afford much more, they still prefer to live amongst the more common people in an apartment block, recently bought by the company in the southwestern part of Cepero Town. The building complex now named “Moria Tower”.

José Johnson is now the daily leader of R. Johnson Workwear and the family’s other possession. Right now, aiming to branch into forestry, to grab the furniture market, otherwise only supplied by import. The construction of a furniture factory already started. Currently José negotiate with local tribe leaders to set up logging camps in south jungle.

    August 1992

Due to the fact that a fire is fire raging at Department of Political Science. A study to reduce the number of rats crawling around in residential areas due to piles of trash, is on hold. Other interesting projects like reducing the waiting time at bus stops, ways to attract investors to replace older residential building with new and modern and a study of the increased crime at Cepero Islands have also been postponed.

After losing Yulia, he left the apartment at Plateau Village moving to Cepero Island to try his luck there. Dolores Sullivan and Alexandre Martin, May 1993

Back in the 80’s Dolores Sullivan met miner Alexandre Martin and lived with him in a small apartment in “New Village” Cepero Town. She got a rather late first pregnancy in 1985 and they moved into a little bit larger apartment in Lucia Village, where the rent is lower due to the pollution from M. Leroy Firearms. Last year Dolores gave birth to a 2nd son Mikel. The couple decided to marry. The mother and firstborn son Ronnie kept their last name Sullivan. Whereas Mikel was baptized Mikel Sullivan Martin. They were hoping to get into the new South Jungle Tower complex, but that was already filled up and probably also too expensive anyway. Dolores is now 34 years old and works at S/L shipping just across the street. 49 years old Alexandre works at Schubert Holding’s nickel mine down the road. 7 years old Ronnie go to school at President Williams.

    Sister Sullivan Dec.1993

Sister Sullivan is now 59 years old. After her oil investments in 1988 one of the wealthiest persons at Bounty Islands, recently she bought the most expensive address in the city, “The mansion of Dr. Sofia Pellegrini”, Juan Pérez Residential Area at North Harbor Road, neighboring the Parliament and the Council. Even though she belongs to the upper 0.6% of the population, she haven’t got a car, she takes the bus. “Not to seem too posh”. Har daughters Dolores and Shana claim she’s just scared of cars.

Sister Sullivan is known to throw luxurious parties. Gathering people like “Schubert” owners Alba and Finn Van de Berg, Head of Council Rubén Benítez, young and famous actress Ane Smirnow, radio host Tess Bakker, defence minister Mónica Fernández with husband Pablo and playboy Francisco Ruiz, rumored to be her secret lover.

Sister Verónica passed away and now Sister Valeria leads the two chapels in Bounty City, Sister Chloé the Worship in Cepero Town. Sister Sullivan is of course still the overall responsible, but delegates most of the daily tasks. She only holds one service a year, the Christmas Celebration at Gaia’s birth of Jesus.

    Deaths in 1993

Dolores Sullivan became pregnant again less than a year after she gave birth to Mikel Sullivan Martin, sadly Mikel died from Bacterial Sepsis just weeks before the new baby was born.

José Johnson’s negotiations with the native tribe leaders was long and hard, but he finally succeeded to make a deal. Johnson Holdings will provide a yearly sum to the native Calusa community in the Southern Jungle and can locate a maximum of two logging camps, provided they restock the forests, not to spoil the natural habitat of the Calusa hunter’s pray, especially the Collared Peccary, Wild Domestic Pig and the Red Brocket.

Why all that is mentioned here thought, is because José Johnson’s group was attacked on the way back through the jungle, several guards was killed and José Johnson was kidnapped. We don’t know if he is death. Media suspect criminal networks such as “Loyal to Familia” or Members of the Calusa tribe or even Extreme Environmentalists, there have been no official mention of a ransom so no one really knows. It is completely unclear who those men were. Yelena Johnson now leads all Johnson Group activities.

The family left the attractive apartment at The Donkey Curve, buying a house in Cattle Road Residential Area. Clearly not as outstanding as the rented Donkey Curve apartment, but a much better investment in the future. Their son Jimmy is now 11 years old, attending school at President Williams.

Facts and figures, Mar. 1995 Part One, I: Maps North District

Mountain Village: The first expansion up to the North Mountains from 1905 to 1907 was the establishment of the still existing Sheep Ranch and Sugar Plantation at mountain Road. Around 1910 Mountain Village was thriving with homes of 18-20 families. Those houses are long gone, replaced with more modern homes in the 60’s. The 70’s saw some development of the village with the addition of the Iron Mine and the Hippie Village since then Mountain Village have been the sleepiest area at Bounty Islands, only the new road to Plateau Village have changed the living conditions a little bit.

    KhRUXKq.jpg

Plateau Village: Expansion into the West Jungle at the North West Plateau started in 1918 with the establishment of a banana plantation, during the 20’s and 30’s Plateau Village slowly formed but was still smaller than the neighboring Mountain Village. Due to the construction of the powerplant at Cepero Islands in 1949, the original banana plantation was replaced with a coal mine, at the same period the government decided to use the village as location of Bounty Islands social housing, increasing the population enough to outgrow Mountain Village. In the 60’s a large military installation was placed in the village and hippies formed the first “free village”. In the 70’s gold was discovered in the jungle and a mine was established. Lately the hippie community established a sawmill, City Trucks opened at depot and the area’s first large apartment complex “Plateau Tower” was constructed in 1993. The Military installation was recently relocated to the city, replaced by a Goat Ranch owned by Bay Cheese Ltd.

Facts and figures, Mar. 1995 Part One, IV: Map Saint Mary’s District

At the beginning of the 20th century, what is now Saint Mary’s District was mainly developed at both sides of Coconut Road, at the north side the Circus and the Fort, at the south side the gold mine, teamsters, craftsmen and residential buildings. The three still existing plantations in the district was also producing agricultural products this early. During the 20’s and 30’s Original Leather was moved from Hardor District to the north outskirts of Saint Mary’s and a prison was built in the same area. New residential buildings were erected near Pasture Road. During the 40’s and 50’s the original prison was replaced by the larger State Prison. Secret Service constructed SMB1 at Coffee Road. In this period Bounty Islands first bus line would connect The Circus Square to Cepero Island. Over the years the area between Coconut Road and Pasture Road have been reformed and rearranged too many times to mention with Grocery’s, residential and other building constructed, removed or demolished. Most importantly Bounty City University opened there in 1973. Andreas Wolf sculpture park “Faces of Power” was revealed at the edge of East Bounty Jungle in 1975. Facts and figures, Mar. 1995 Part One, VII: Map South District

The Area that is now The South District first developed from 1948 with the replaced nickel mine and the construction of a coal mine to supply the new Cepero Coal Plant. Soon followed by R. Johnson cotton plantations and a Pineapple plantation at the west side of the Island. During the 50’s two tobacco plantations and a banana plantation was located between Cepero Island Mountains and the South Jungle. The first small residential settlement Lucia Hamlet formed. During the 60’s R. Johnson placed a sheep ranch close to the tobacco plantations, another nickel mine was constructed and the hamlet grew to a village. But it was with the construction of M. Leroy Firearms JV at the village in 1968, residential construction really began. During the 70’s the 2nd nickel mine was abandoned and demolished. Leone Family build another sheep ranch. The Walker Family found an iron ore depot and constructed a mine at the borders of Cepero Small Plain and South Jungle. Recently The Government Corn Plantation was moved to the district to make room for the Cathedral. Some social housing was located at Cepero Small Plains. Lucia Village got a clinic. A large apartment complex “South Jungle Tower” was erected south east of M. Leroy Firearms. R. Johnson build a lumber camp in the East Jungle. Sister Sullivan started pumping oil in South Jungle and currently up-scale apartments are being constructed in the south-eastern part of Lucia Village.

Facts and figures, Mar. 1995 Part Two, Economy and Demographics

This time the State Statistics Department did not do a full economic report, a simpler report was chosen comparing key figures with the period from 1978 to 1987. All in all, the economy it fine with improvements in most sectors

    zmTYeIe.jpg

    Wealth

To prepare for this Facts and figures, the State Statistics Department made a special survey digging a bit deeper into wealth versus poverty in Bounty Islands population, but first the numbers as we are used to see them, only related to the combined family income, last survey in ( ) :

Out of the total population, 0,78% (1,4%) can be considered extremely underprivileged, 56.03% (56,5%) relatively poor, 36,38% (38%) relatively wealthy, 6,23% (3,6%) Rich, 0,58% (0,6%) millionaires or better. Luckily there are no children in the first group, it is mainly retired people.

In the new special survey, a mix of housing conditions and income are considered to make these eight classes: 0,19% Extreme Poverty, 1,65% Poor, 41,54% Lower Working Class, 14,01% Higher Working Class, 19,55% Lower Middle Class, 7,51% Higher Middle Class, 4,18% Upper Class, 1,95% High Upper Class.

Other Demographics, last survey in ( )

    Population growth: Birth rate 3,21% (3,5%), Unnatural Death Rate 2,04% (3,7%), Natural Death Rate 1,07% (1,4%), Growth + 0,10%

Homes: Homeless rate 1,94% (3,5%), Vacant homes rate 11,76% (2,0%)

Employment: Unemployed rate 3,72% (4,1%), Vacant job rate 1,27% (1,5%)

    Education: 73,74% (65%) of the workforce uneducated, 20,9% (28,7%) got a short education, 5,35% (6,8%) got a long education

Age: Child <4y 6,42% (6,8%), Child 4-17y 12,65 (10,6%), Adult 18-68y 78,99% (81,7%), Elder 69+y 1,95% (0,9%). The oldest living person on Bounty Islands is José Benítez, 78 years old. Mr. Benítez is a Spanish immigrant, currently homeless.

President Thomas Williams notes: I really like this wealth versus poverty survey, showing that very few people live in extreme poverty. We can’t guaranty that all will be amongst the riches 10% of the population, but as we see here, very few are really poor in our nation. (Some more critical commentators mentioned that as long as you can define poor yourself, you can get any number you like). The President continues: We can see in the death rates, that the healthcare system works much better now, that is good, but we can also see that it has created to many unemployed people, amongst immigrants as well as local bounty families. Luckily, we have just enforced a rule than new immigrants can only enter bounty if they got some level of education, which should also improve on the decreasing percentages of educated in our society. The fact that we have an age distribution with relative little workforce do not worry me too much, in a situation where we need jobs. But have to say it worries me that we have way too many empty homes, the construction industry need to build cleverly and dare to demolish if needed.
