How to make ramps with NAM?

Figuring out how to make roads with NAM 36 has been incredibly frustrating. All videos and documentation is either expert-level interchanges or steps with not enough information on where to find the pieces.

All i want to do is make a basic level 1 highway with off/on ramps that connect to roads, nothing fancy. I got through placing starter pieces and making the highway, then placing the type-B flexramp on it. That's where I get stuck, as whatever I place at the end of the ramp just falls off to the ground level or breaks the ramp. Can someone please tell me in detail where to go in the menus and the name of the piece and in what order to use to properly connect it to road? I don't care how it looks or what direction it's in, just need a simple ramp.

I spent way too many hours trying to figure out how to make a simple highway, it should not be this complicated...

And it doesn't have to be, the original Maxis Highways are the way to go if simple is your primary consideration.

Due to limitations of the game, whilst we can mod in new networks, we're hugely constrained in terms of how. Until recently, ramps with elevated networks weren't even possible. But the RHW is the culmination of many years of progressive development and learning how to use it simply is not easy. Understanding the core RHW networks is key to working out how to interface them with others. MIS or the Modular Interchange System is used most commonly for such tasks. You should be able to continue dragging the MIS part of the ramp using the RHW Tool. At this point you are going to need to use height transition pieces or connect to an elevated road. I can't explain all that in a couple of easy steps, because the number of different ways you can go about this makes it impractical. Making the most basic interchanges are covered here step by step:

Once you've a general feel for the basics, which these two tutorials show, you can apply that to make a huge number of different setups. Getting this kind of realism requires that it be complicated, because there is simply that much more to learn.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
