I want to Transit Enable an existing lot, and I get this alert when I open the program ;  How and especially where do I change that 0 value ?

(I recently changed my SC4 from disk for SC4 from Steam (if it has any bearing on the problem)

Use a different program -- One that starts off trying to do something illegal to your registry is a "tool" you should probably delete.

What do you mean? That message isn't anything to do with changing the registry. The message clearly states the currently set value might present problems with the application. Not to mention, if you are TEing lots, there isn't another application. SC4 Tool is literally the only option, except using the Reader and manually setting the TE using Hex.

For those not familiar with the term, let's start with a brief explanation of what the Registry is...

Whenever you change any setting on your computer, those settings are kept in the Registry. Likewise those applications you install will generally make use of the Registry too. Sure, messing with this in the wrong place can cause big problems, which is why most of these settings can be altered in a more user friendly manner. For example, everything you might change in Control Panel, ultimately is stored in the Registry.

No user needs to fear the Registry, but everyone should respect it. In other words, only change something if you can be absolutely sure it won't cause problems. A quick Google search clarifies exactly what this particular entry does [HERE].

The MenuShowDelay property indicates the time, in milliseconds, that the system waits before displaying a cascaded shortcut menu when the mouse cursor is over a submenu item. For example, from within a context menu or menu bar.

So far as I can see, it's generally not recommend to have a value of 0 for this. Some application has presumably altered this setting, I doubt either Steam, SC4 or SC4 Tool was involved in that. Ideally, you should try to follow the instructions in the linked tutorial to change this value. SC4 Tool simply wants to see a value above 0, although 400 seems to be the default Windows uses. No harm can come from altering this setting, provided you do it correctly.

Otherwise, if you can use SC4 Tool and are not experiencing problems, you could just ignore the message. As usual, such error messages don't make a lot of sense, without the context of knowing what it's talking about. However, in context, I hope it's pretty clear that nothing bad is happening, nor does anything absolutely need fixing.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
