I'm on a new iMac G5. Maybe one of these days I'll try my hand at creating content for the game. 1.gif

    Hello
Just a question.... how come the IKEA doesn't show up in the landmarks menu like everything else?

    Thanks,
    SwedeGeek

(I hope this isn't something with a stupid answer, if it is, I'm sorry, i'm new to downloading things)

Don't worry SwedeGeek, there is no flaming in this thread, and I, and others, will gladly answer questions, though it is always appreciated when people take a look around first, many questions are answered within the Mac Forums or the Read me files.

GC's Ikea Superstores are growable only, no ploppable version, this is in the Read me file, but you're new to this, so don't feel bad for missing that, everybody was new to this at some time, right...

To encourage the Ikea stores to grow, zone Medium Density 4x4 and/or 5x5 commercial lots (use the control key when zoning), and as long as you have CS medium wealth demand, you should get a few.

    Good luck

    Hi everybody!

I just wanted to use this occasion to leave a big, fat

    THANK YOU

for you. I'm a PC user, but I loathe installers because I know where to put the stuff and how to read a readme, and I prefer sticking to my own sorting system. Your archive makes it much easier for me to do so, and you spare me the trouble of scratching all the files together after the installer copied them to folders I never selected, created folders I never wanted and opened windows I didn't want to see.

With your ZIPs, I just unzip, sort and get happy. Thanks again for the tremendous work you are doing. A little praise for you is overdue. Keep up your good work! I appreciate it a lot. 35.gif

A huge thanks to the Mac BSC team for making it possible for us Mac users to enjoy the installation lots. 1.gif I'm still running on Jaguar, so I won't be able to use that Juicer program. And upgrading the OS isn't my top priority right now. 15.gif I did notice an older version of it that works for 10.2.8, apparently. We shall see.

    @ kbooms1w: Damn, you're right. I don't like this at all. 15.gif
Then again, I can understand your decision very well. I just hope that BSC will spare you MAc users and those few installer-hating PC users like me all the unnecessary hassle by offering their creations both packed in an installer and wrapped up in a ZIP.

Thanks again for all the work you have done, and good luck with whatever you're up to. 1.gif

Can you please release a Linux port of FileJuicer? Linux users have the same problem with SC4 downloads while the Windows version of Simcity itself is executable using the Cedega runtime.

The GNUStep framework may help to recompile Cocoa projects. For Realbasic projects, the IDE itself supports the generation of GTK-binaries.

Very cool thanks for working on the Juicer! It will save me time as i will no longer have to xfer bsc files to my pc and then run the install and move them back to the mac.

Well, I'm glad to see this change didn't cause as much trouble as I thought it might.

I hope those of you who can use File Juicer will help negative352 and GoaSkin (and anyone else who needs it) get the BATs/Lots they want/need.

@negative352, I asked Henrik (the creator of File Juicer) if he could add the SC capabilities to the earlier version that works with Jaguar, but he couldn't for technical reasons (way over my head), not because he didn't want to.

@GoaSkin, I don't know if Henrik can make a version that will work on Linux. You can contact him through his website echoone.com. Considering all the work you've done on nightlighting for Macs, I really wish I could do more.

Again, if you have questions re: BSC stuff, you can still post them here...

    Hi All,
After using Juicer successfully on most of the exe files (haven't tried yet but look ok to me) I end up having these file names which look trouble.

    rp2005_PropPack_vol03[139336]-5.dat
    Install_Don_Miguel_Haughworts_Building_BSC-1[123903]-10.dat

Numbers in brackets and Install additions at the beginning of the files does not look correct to me. What do you think?

By the way thanks for all your hard work kbooms1w. Hope we won't
    miss you a lot...

I think the numbers in the brackets are just a byproduct of the process. I'd test it if I had the time, but I'm pretty sure it's fine.

As to Don Miguel's .dat file, I think it is a leftover too, I'm pretty sure it's the lot file you need, in combination with his BAT prop pack, you should ask him to confirm... didn't see a read me file in there...

    Thanks for your reply kbooms1w.
Unfortunately there is no read me file in the package but there is a lot file so I will try that one. I'll let you know if it works.
    Cheers

I know we have all sincerly appreciated kbooms' efforts.

I certainly appreciated his patience and unfailing good humor in my dealings with him which were beset by some major tech snafus.

I bought the same Juicer program you did. Have you had any luck with it? I tried to download some SG lots-- a couple of schools-- but I must've done something wrong because they did not show up in the school menu.

Once Juicer has created the folder with all the bits in do i just move that folder to plugins or do i have to pick out the bits i need?

Im asking because I dont know what I need!

@stuart, you should move the SC files to your plugins and leave the leftovers behind. The read me files should tell you where things go, and this thread has some good discussions about where to put things (see first couple pages or so).

@scott, which files did you try? What's your OS? Did you change any of the preferences of File Juicer. Any other details you can post? just trying to get more info to try to figure this out. I ran SG's 2 new schools through it, actually they were a couple of the packages used to do the modification, so I know they work. Let me know...

There is no readme file with the one im testing. I have placed the entire folder into Plugins and it seems to work fine. Are the 'leftovers' only taking up disk space? If so im not too bothered.

You can do that, but if you start putting a lot of those extra files in your plugins, it will get clogged and you may notice some problems. I would recommend putting only the files you need, but whatever works for you...

One other thing, everyone should open the File Juicer preferences and check the pdf format box, this will ensure that Gascooker's read me files are extracted properly.

Hi, I'm operating 10.2.8, and downloaded the Juicer program for this OS.
I downloaded the Enyati College by SG, and thought I extracted everything from the .exe OK. I put everything together in one file and put it in the plugins, as normal. The school did not show up in the menu.

Some help with File Juicer. When I have run the .exe through the app along with the .dat files, I get a load of others i don't recognise (.inflated, .txt, .un-bzip2ed) do I need these, or has something gone wrong.
I have all the file options checked, should I uncheck some of them

    FAQ: File Juicer 3.9

I just noticed that File Juicer has been updated to 3.9. Any version 3.8 and above should include the capability to extract SC game files.

I should have done this when I first posted about File Juicer, but didn

Thanks for all your hard work. Sadly, although a think I have seached the forums for answers and followed your instructions (right version and only the 3 needed extractions) I am still unable to extract most of the PEG CSK and CSK2 files.

The following looks like they have been properly extracted with .dat, .jpg and html files:
    PEG_CSK2_Small-Port_205f_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK2_WaterTaxis_2.05_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK2_Fountains_2.05_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK2_Docks_2.05_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK_Add-On2_2.05_SU Juice

But not the following. All only extracted the html and a new zip file. (if I tried to extraxt the new zip file the same 2 files, 1 html and 1 zip, is produced)

    PEG_CSK-Barges_PROP-PAK_205a_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK2_Scows_2.05_SU1 Juice
    PEG_Lighthouse-Island_205a_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK2_Add-On1_2.05_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK2_2.05_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK_Add-On1_2.05_SU Juice
    PEG_Caisson-Style-Lighthouse_205_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK_Add-On3_2.05_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK_2-1.05a_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK_Annabellelin_2.05a_SU Juice
    PEG_CSK_2.05a_SU Juice

Repeating the process did not change the outcome. 27.gif

Is there anywhere where PEG CSK files are archieved (your .MAC archive does not seem to have them), unzipped or do you have any other suggestions on how to get the others to open properly? Since most files are dependent on CSK and CSK2 base files my sims will be without these seemingly kool canals and fountains.

    Any help is greatly apreciated.
