So that means if you really want a 1:1 map out of terrain party, you should scale the heightmap up by a ratio of 1:1.04166, letting the edges get cropped away, keeping a 1081x1081 px image.

I really wish I had known this a few days (years?) ago.

I've dealt with the problem and made a video how to easily adapt. However, it is in German with English subtitles.

I'm very proud of this LOD, it's surely the best I've ever done. 222 tris with a 320x256 map. The balconies are alphamapped. I think I've finally got the hang of blender and baking. :8)

Been working on the Soviet Memorial Tiergarten on and off for over a year now. I'm finally getting close to finishing it :thumb:

Thanks :) I have no idea how to unwrap and texture a figurative sculpture, so I'm procrastinating. Any tips would be appreciated.

The good thing about sculptures is that they're pretty much just a single material with some grime and AO if you're feeling fancy.

In Max you can just paint the texture right on the model.. I don't use blender, so I don't know how good it is - but this looks like the blender equivalent: https://youtu.be/LcCQKuWPhXk

You can probably just auto unwrap, give it a basic material texture, and paint the wear on top of it to get some pretty decent results with minimal hassle.

Up close that soldier looks super nice - the hands are especially impressive without getting into hundreds of thousands of tris. :thumb:

Thanks. He's 5.6k tris and the first figure I've ever tried to model. I copied some parts (like the hands) from stuff like MakeHuman and other free resources that I could find.
