Nice start to your CJ! Looking forward to more! It would be cool to see you use some mods, particularly a slope mod, because I hear that your sims are having trouble getting up the steep slopes on your roads.

Okay i've got a lot of free time now so things are really gonna get movin~! ;)

Heres 2 pix of the downtown area.  Ive got a avenue tunnel going under ground to maximize space on top, the rotary for all the traffic situations. Now I've expanded the avenues because I'm adding in higher density residental and commercial zones.

When the people start moving in and the buildings start rising ill add an update

    So here's the pix:

I played a lot since the last update.  Had some problems with some plugins and buildings not showing up so I had to clean up that mess.  I had to reinstall NAM and it's stirred up come confusion in the city with the demand etc....

Basically I'm at 37,000 sims and all the demand is negative.  Not a big deal I will find a way to work with it.  This is what I like. I enjoy playing this game most when I'm trying to fix my cities and figure out what the hell is wrong with it, then finding a way to fix it with the money I've got.  Like I know some people use the $$$ cheats and use SC4 as a sandbox... I like fighting against the simulation if that makes sense.

My cashflow is positive though.  I'm making more than I spend, so money isn't an issue.

The plan is to start another tile of the region and build that up, then connect the two.... That's how I plan to beat the negative demand problem.

You've got some real growth going on there - I'm looking forward to the time when it will turn into a booming metropolis. My foremost tip would be to try experimenting more with your city planning techniques and don't be afraid to be bold. You may hit on something you find more aesthetically pleasing or more functional (perhaps both!) than your current methods. They seem rather standard so far, though you're off to a good start. I understand that you find the "simulation-fighter" role to be the most enjoyable, so why not make that the centerpiece of your city journal? Show us some snapshots of those budget figures, and tell us a gripping tale of you overcoming the problem, making the place work out, and still come out ahead in cash flow and quality of life for the citizens. A city journal doesn't have to be filled with eyecandy to be good.

Also, if you don't know this already, you can take a snapshot of the budget and any other part of the GUI (or with the GUI minimized) using CTRL+SHIFT+S (I noticed all your snapshots have the snapshot menu open).

Ah, that's always fun - leaving your computer on overnight and waking up to either a big metropolis, something really weird, or a lot of wreckage. That is a lot of damage. Hopefully they'll manage to bounce back as well as Chicago did after 1871's great fire.

It's off to a great start so far! Hopefully you now have built a fire station or two in your industrial area to prevent fires from breaking out again.

The way you build your city reminds me of when I first started playing the game, particularly with how you use one way roads and tunnels. Just keep at er' *:thumb:

Is there a different section or site to post city journals? something more populated? i havent updated this in 2 months and its still on the front page, seems like this forums dead

im close to 200k now in 2 large city tiles

i have updates but its kinda time consuming to post them and if theres no viewers it doesn't seem worth the effort :(

You could enter your CJ here : https://community.simtropolis.com/journals/

Personally I think it may get more views there , give it a shot and see what happens . So far your CJ looks pretty good .
