There has to be a way to disable garbage and dead bodies in Cities Skylines.  Bottomline, having to place incinerators, landfills, and graveyards in EVERY district/neighborhood makes a city look like total $%&^!!!  With Sc4 there were meaningful alternatives to disposing trash.  Problem with computer sims is there are not enough map real estate to process garbage over centuries (game time clock).  I understand it is for the sake of realism.  But for those who wants to play in sandbox style and emphasize creativity, this feature all but destroys the fun in the game.  Until there is an option to turn off garbage / bodies in Skylines, it appears I am without a city sim, unfortunately.  I enjoy Simcity 4 but sadly, technical limitations of running on a single core and no ultrawide support makes running it no longer feasible.  I tried Skylines twice and ended up not liking it much.  If there is a good mod to somehow remove trash or somehow make it disappear, please let me know.  I would love to play this game now that there are 1000's of new buildings in the Steam Workshop.

Garbage dumps and landfills are for those short 5 hour games where you try something out. Otherwise, just use some of the large incinerators and recycling stations from the workshop, and there are also solutions for crematories. You can also change workshop assets yourself. For example, I changed this lovely little cemetery I got from the workshop into a high-capacity, large radius crematory:

There's also a little one-cell crematory available that works nicely. For garbage, you can find small 3-cell recycling centers that look like the usual collection stations you have in residential neighborhoods and make for a nearly invisible solution.

Here you have some more traditional solutions for garbage and deathcare, among other things. This is the little district recycling hub I mentioned (a bit high poly though for what it does). Of course, it's easy to make "cheat" lots yourself (as far as there is any cheating in a single-player game, which I don't think), if that is your thing. For example, you could just make the latter example into a one cell lawn with a tree, raise the capacity and radius, and be done.

As for the vanilla game, I never found integrating incinerators into the cityscape such a huge problem.h9F7YSU.jpg

It's not that horrible, but you don't have to do it if you don't want.

Even with workshop assets, you can use some of those assets that are pretty much in line with the vanilla ones (except lower pollution and higher costs). Spot the garbage solution here:

I don't see your garbage solution but will guess it is one of the parks visible.  Thanks for the heads up!!  I'll try some of these things out.  I am quite attached to Sc4 but even with some fixes in place, it is inevitable the game will no longer work at all some day.  Really need a new one :D

My biggest gripe is needing 100's of trucks in a medium size city.  That is just insane!!  I called the waste management company for the city I live in and asked how many trucks are used for my area with 55k people.  The answer:  13 .  The guy laughed when I told him why the question was being asked... LOL

Speaking Sc4, I was able to get it to run by setting display size to 1920X1080 from the display properties manager then going into Steam game launch settings and adding this to options:  -intro:off -CPUCount:1 -f -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 .

Heh, no, I didn't try to get cheeky. It's basically this recycling center, close to the rightmost road half way to the bridge. I just wanted to show that it can fit in.

The amount of service vehicles is, indeed, a bit much. I guess you will get used to it. Except the sirens...

Regarding SC4, yup, that's the bare minimum to make it run. It's often good to tell SC4 what card you are using, too. But that's for the SC4 forum, I guess.

It appears trash and bodies just has to be handled locally.  In Sc4, I would have a utility district for every 500k peeps.  One solution for bodies is have churches rather than crematories and cemeteries.  Trash can just be handled in a few back allys behind retail stores.

when the streets in my city are full of garbagetrucks it's usually a traffic problem. I guess it takes too long before the garbagetruck reaches it's destination therefore more trucks are sent to that area. this only adds to the traffic problem. a decent infrastructure which can handle and guide huge amounts of traffic will prevent the need to build extra incinerators.

cemetary's and garbagedumps will get filled to the max at one point, while crematoria and incinerators can be used until you're done with the map.

trash isn't handled locally but has a large range. In most cities I've built the incinerators are all next to each other. It's basically a dead-end street which has a dedicated roundabout-exit. the roundabout is connected to ramps which lead to the highway. No trafficlights or other traffic will slow down the army of garbage trucks.

Cemeteries in C:SL are actually tame compared to their real life counterparts in real life.  In fact real cemeteries can stretch for block upon block, there are some fairly large ones in the New York Metro.  It's also coincidentally a problem in regards to potential living space versus death-care.  I generally place each cemetery next to a crematorium to combat this problem in game.  As for garbage there are better alternative available via the community on steam.  I find keeping garbage structures strictly to isolated industrial neighborhoods helps spread out the trash trucks and keep my traffic down to a degree.

SC4 Steam version works fine on multi-core and ultra widescreen.  I switched to that (for about $5) after the recent Windows 10/SC4 fiasco.

I a way I agree with your opinion about the garbage disposal, although I have experienced that placing a number of incinerators in industrial area's fit in rather nicely (I play almost completely "vanilla"). By strategically developing industrial plants/area's the garbage disposal was solved for me.

I disagree with your stance on graveyards. Just have a look at any real citymap and see how many graveyards there really are. There are a lot of them!

But as Turjan said, use some of the mods from the workshop or tinker with them yourself and you can solve the problem.

You can have all your garbage facilities located outside the city, you just need to include high-volume roads for all the trucks.  Place a lot of dumps in the same spot because they are cheap and the trucks will be on very long missions.  Then as they fill, empty them into the incinerator.  You really need to use both without breaking the bank, otherwise your incinerators will not run at 100% disposal rate and you'll be wasting TONS of money.  Note that incinerator processing rates drop once the incinerator is less than half full, so it's really easy to end up overbuilding incinerators if they are not placed in each neighborhood.  Also true for corpses: graveyards/dumps for collection, crematory/incinerator for disposal.

You can also get some enlarged capacity garbage trucks in the Workshop so your trucks don't get full before only getting halfway across town.

I have a mod that automatically clears dead and garbage. Got tired of worrying about it, and then in big cities, the vehicles just wouldn't get anywhere. I don't think the mod is still available on Steam, though, but for some reason it's still in my game ,and still seems to work. It's called the trash and dead cleaner.

I don't experience a lot of problems with garbage and dead bodies. However, the assets that are in the vanilla game don't have a lot of capacity which means that this causes a lot of problems. I'm also using downloaded assets from the Workshop. There are some assets that work quite well for waste disposal. These are the assets I'm using:

With these assets I have quite some capacity in my city of around 260.000 citizens. I need to place more than one of those though. However, I can blend this in my industrial zone quite easily, thus I'm not really bothered by that.

The cemetery and crematorium in the base game are also quite impossible to work with. I'm not using the base assets at all. Instead I'm using these two assets:

These assets have a capacity much larger than the default assets. If cemeteries are completely full I usually empty them. The bodies will be relocated to a crematorium (if available). This means that there are less dead bodies if emptying is finished. After that I stop emptying the lot. This results into a steady capacity in cemeteries. I don't have to build a lot of those assets and I'm not emptying cemeteries very often because the capacity of a single cemetery is quite high as well. This approach works quite well in my experience.
