Well I guess they should lock everyone's profile again, cause it's not fair, I got my profile locked once cause I violated the rules, so why shouldnt these violators get it locked too?

It's not like its really out of proportion IMO, im sure if some one broke the rules and a moderator saw it, they would be best to get warned.  I had my sig well over 15 lines of text and no one saw it until I posted in one of the active forums, then I got told about it.

Some said that it was unfair that they were locked without warning, well, if everyone was locked then what the heck are they supposed to do about it? You don't give the people that didnt realise their sig had gone over the limit by a simple space the chance to actually change it.  And if I didn't have my sig picture in no one would post in my CJ or give me comments in my BAT thread... Come to think of it... Don't usually anyway until about 3 days later.

Becuase this is an international site, not all the mods can see the forums at times, so a simple sig violation can go unnoticed until a mod actually goes into a topic and sees it.  If you want this problem to be solved I think dirk needs to get some shifts going I guess, you know, some one that keeps an eye on new posts for a certain time period then another takes over etc.

But its up to him, and honestly I couldn't give a care about a couple of lines too longer or a picture a couple of pixels too big.  Things could be alot worse if it wasn't for Dirks handywork and rules, in exchange for that is probably simple things like over-powering signatures.  I for one prefer those than people threatening me with death threats becuase of my views on polotics & releigon - oops, not allowed here! 44.gif

The genaral moderator prosedure is to warn first timers but if that person keep's breacking signature rules then the profile locking button is often used.

general... procedure... continues to break (instead of 'keep's breacking')... then the profile is locked (instead of 'then the profile locking button is often used.')

I also suggest spell checking, grammar checking, and proof reading. see: sh*t coats.19.gif

I say yes, much better. I like your use of smaller fonts and they are clearly readable at 1024x768 resolution, on my 17inch monitor.

P.S. The whole ST site is super fast and reliable today!  Can you imagine what just a handful of people can do when downsizing content? Think of it. A member who has 1000 posts and an image of 300x50 below each one, suddenly decides to cut out the image and viola! you have 1000 small images removed at once!

so far my signature has been like this for months and nobody has said anything about it being out of the rules....though one of my images is a gadget thing lol.If I need to remove a image in my sig I'll remove the rolling hills...since I actully don't like it due to the fact that it looks bad...though isn't there a rule about having only 15 lines of text Max?

I think that if your signature's length doesn't go below Suscribe to this author when you do a one line post, you are definitely OK. (Length, not size)

IMO unless signatures are grossly over what is generally deemed to be a reasonable limit, then it should be fine. 19.gif

I agree that it is important to keep signature size down (which is why I shortened mine, but if the signature is still inside the legal limits, I don't see why anyone should be complaining, regardless of the size of the sig).  I have dialup and signature size has never been an issue with me.

Since I don't want to break the site rules if I can help it, and not even the official banner is small enough to pass the rules, I've decided to drop the picture.  The rules are the rules, and I'll try to abide by them.1.gif

I haven't seen a rule regarding avatar size. And also, avatars aren't discouraged as sig pics are. If you have a problem with my avatar, please ask me to remove it. I removed my sig pic when I realized it was too large, and that was what sparked my attention to many signatures here...

Sure, my avatar is a little large, but once you download it once, you shouldn't have to download it again. Sure, same with sig pics, but dirk made an official statement on sig pic size, as well, he discouraged them...sigs look fine without them...Posts look boring without a custom avatar...just think logically about it...

According to the Signature & Avatars reminder thread, the official avatar size is 200KB.

winonanick: I have dial-up too. To solve the problem with images, I just turn the pictures off.

    @Voar Tok

turn the pictures off, how do you do that?

(sorry that I am asking a side question)
