The drug against parasitic worms sounds like it might be a cognate of ivermectin which is specific against heart worm in canines.  The anti-malarial drug will certainly be a boon.  The important thing here is to make sure that the people in the third world who need these drugs the most can access them.  We don't need yet another drug priced out of the hands of the needy.

Physics.

Well, you learn something new every day.  I was unaware that neutrinos had different types and that there is a controversy about how many types there are.  The mass must be very small indeed because they go through everything in great showers and seem to have no effect on matter as they pass through.  It appears that these researchers have taken a leaf from Sun Tzu: "If you sit by the river long enough, the body of your enemy will float past."

The Nobel Prizes for various scientific, health, and engineering innovations are great. Too bad the peace prize has been reduced to a political pageant.

At least the guy who devalued it has been demoted from his leader position. Shall be interesting to see if that helps.

I would still not wage my money on Putin, this year either. Not even if he'd actually managed to wipe out ISIL he'd get it D:

There was a time when the Peace Prize meant something, but lately it has just been a political football.  If you look at the last 10 recipients you can see that the ethics of this particular committee has been reduced to fear and a popularity contest.

In fact, this discovering is really old, at least 40 years ago. The reason the comitee wait decades to give the prize is because the identity of one of the researchers was State secret for all this time.

Literature

Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich won the Nobel Prize in Literature Thursday for works that the prize judges called "a monument to suffering and courage."

Peace Prize.

Did something right for a change.  After the correct work with last year's award, the committee has decided to do well while doing good.  The real winners here are the Tunisian people provided the money does not go astray.

Economics

Along with the Peace Prize this is an award for a soft science.

Tunisinia really deserved the prize. Their Egyptian neighbors and nearby terrorists have been trying to undermine the only success story from the Arab Spring (I was hoping [in 2011] for all the Arabian countries turning out like Tunisinia, terrorism to decline and a Persian Fall in October 2012).

Sometimes I don't understand the criteria for literature. All awards have the subjective bias but I think literature along with peace are the most bias Nobel Prize award.
