NAM Traffic modifications not working

I recently updated NAM and subsequently the traffic simulator and it seems I can no longer make any changes to my traffic simulator configuration. I load the file from my plugins folder, edit it drastically and save it successfully. I run the game for a few years and there is no change in that time. No changes in maintenance costs, fare income, transit usage or anything. Very strange and making it very difficult to get my city to actually scale.

 

Any help would be fantastic!

I've had some trouble getting the TSCT to work as well.  I ended up manually editing the traffic config file in the Reader.  I wouldn't be surprised if there's some file permissions problems in new versions of Windows.

TSCT is a Java Jar and runs with the Java runtime.  I run it in native mode on Linux, and it works very well. 

I think the previous poster is right in that Windows 10 seems to have monkeyed with permissions yet again.  What may be happening is that there is no write permission for the user on the controller in the NAM folder.  Windows 10 users should look at the permissions set up by the NAM installer on its folders and files.

Have you tried running TSCT as administrator?

Microsoft keeps playing with permissions on files and acts like the general user is like a recruit at a military base.  Not only that, but NTFS is a very weak file system, so the more they add to it, the weaker it gets and the harder it is to manipulate.

They are too proud to use a public domain file system such as gvfs (GNU Virtual File System) because of their "not invented here" syndrome.

The game runs quite well actually, I'm running it on Windows 8. very few ctd's most days and other than this issue it's actually doing well. I run the configuration tool as the actual admin account, or as admin within my user account after manually deleting the existing traffic simulator configuration file. I've reinstalled the NAM but am pretty much out of ideas at this point.

Funny symptoms lead me to a malware scan.  When was your last one?

Turned out there was an old backup of a traffic configuration in my plugins folder! Deleting that has solved the issue and I can edit the traffic simulator with expected results.
