LOD : Scale problem

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my Lod. It is really smaller than the "normal" model.

I created the model in sketchup, I export it in FBX with the thomthom plugin. Everything seems ok.

Unfortunally the LOD has a lot of problems if I create it with Sketchup (facade desappears, mirror effect...) ; someone on this forum advices me to use an other software.

Accordingly I export the LOD in collada and texture it in Blender. After, I export the object in FBX... annnnnd... the LOD is really small.

Dont know what to do. Probably something quite simple. When I export into FBX the scale objet dont seems to change something at all (tried 80, 800, 1... !)

Suggestions, ideas ? :)

In Blender there are 3 values that influence the scale of your model:

- The scale & unit settings in the Scene tab (I use metric units and 0.01 scale)

- The scale of your object (SketchUp components oftenly import with an offset scale for some reason; to reset the scale to 1.0 -> select object(s) and press CTRL + A -> apply scale)

- The scale option when exporting to .fbx (leave it at 1.0)

    Thanks.

But when I use the metric units, the LOD desappears in the asset editor. Puf ! Dont know if there is a link or not however. :(

But the import in collada from sketchup looks like ok, as the position on the grid and the size of the building is ok (8*20 squares - here meters - so 2*3 tiles IG...)

Here the LOD size and the footprint of the normal model. Dont know what to do. Maybe if I give the different folders someone can try on his laptop with his own settings ?

Regardless of what it looks like in Blender, it can be scaled incorrectly ingame. Also, you need to change the unit settings before you import the .dae file ;)

    Hey,

Thanks Dubai Skyscraper. :) But it seems nothing change.

When I tansform the LOD into main model FBX I have this :

The building is 2.5x smaller than it should be. :D One tile long (should be 20 meters so 2.5 tiles)

Are you sure you followed my suggestion

"- The scale of your object (SketchUp components oftenly import with an offset scale for some reason; to reset the scale to 1.0 -> select object(s) and press CTRL + A -> apply scale)"

correctly? Because 2.5 is pretty much the ratio which Blender randomly assigns to Sketchup components (2.54 to be excact). Here is an example, this is what you will see immediately after you imported a .dae file selected the object:

20663438161_46a5085ce3_o.jpgBlend004 by Dubai Skyscraper, on Flickr

[1] - Offset scale of the imported object

[2] - The object in the scene explorer

As stated before, before you do anything to it, select the object and hit CTRL + A -> apply scale

That's all I can think of, I'd surprised if the problem still persists after you follwed my advice.

I followed your advice but it was just one part of the problem : the Sketchup was in meters and not in centimeters :D It was enough to create multiples problems. Everything seems ok now. Thank you very much for all of your advices :)
