Han Solo bio.

Announced, but no casting as yet.  They'll have to find a younger man than Harrison Ford to play Han.  Maybe we'll find out how he got involved with the Wookies.

I heard that in the expanded universe, Han saved Chewie's life at one point and as a result, Chewie accrued a life debt and that's why the two ended up inseparable.

Of course, the expanded universe has largely gone out the window since Mickey Mouse took over.  Some of the EU was just fan conjecture anyway, though.  It will be interesting to once and for all see the official backstories (and in some cases, forward-stories) for these characters.

"Alien 5"  -  I hadn't realized they were making one until I read today's Yahoo article "Sigourney Weaver:  'Alien vs. Predator' 'Really Depressed Me'."  The franchise had stumbled badly with "Alien3" and was self-parodied with "Alien:  Resurrection," and so I figured the AVP series had finally killed off any further sequels.  Meanwhile the prequel "Prometheus" was only passably okay, and the prequel's sequel has a lot of explaining to do.  The frighteningly atmospheric video game "Alien: Isolation" perhaps shows us what a proper "Alien 5" sequel should look like.

"Robotech"...the live-action movie!!!  -  It's been on the backburner for years, but it may finally be happening, with James Wan now announced last month as director.  We'll have to see how the director of "Saw" and "Furious 7" manages to bring our '80s childhood introductory mecha and space opera anime to the big screen.  Sony Pictures suggests it could become a film franchise, and there is indeed vast amounts of cool material available, but this is also a complicated story franchise infamously mired for three decades in ownership and rights licensing hell.  In the meantime, I'll now start watching "Macross Frontier."  I admit, I still have a model of Lancer's green VFA-6I Veritech Fighter standing over my computer as I type this.  Egads...just who will they cast as Lynn Minmei, the teen pop singer whose voice sank a million alien spaceships?

"Bill & Ted 3"  -  Whoa, no way!  Yes, way!  ...Well, maybe way.  "Bill & Ted's Midlife Crisis"?...it doesn't matter, the first two were absolutely brilliant, visionary, and most outstanding.

I'm not a hardcore Star Wars fan; so some of the items and scenery featured here will make better sense and be better understood by fans.

    The cinematography is absolutely superb.

"Alien:  Covenant," the official title of "Alien 5," the previously mentioned sequel to "Prometheus" and one of the prequels to "Alien," is now set for release this May.  I thought "Prometheus" fell flat, with too many alien-fodder characters doing stupid things for hopelessly inexplicable reasons.  Maybe now we might get a clearer picture of the overall storyline, though it looks from the trailers that alien-fodder characters will still act stupid.

"Kodomo Tsukai"「こどもつかい」(English title:  "Innocent Curse") another horror story from "The Ring" and "The Grudge" line, is also coming up.  Actually, I'm not really into horror movies, especially when they are full of creepy children of the corn, but this flick stars J-pop idol Takizawa Hideaki of the boyband duo Tackey & Tsubasa and the "Takizawa Kabuki" stage plays as the Dark Avenging Angel of Murdered Children who has come to town to kill off all the adults.

Egads, evil demon serial killer Tackey!  The mind boggles, as he was always the dreamiest, most earnest pretty boy in the dramas.  I've also watched "Takizawa Kabuki," where he surrounds himself with junior kids, and it looks like he's dressing up in the same stage show roles for the big screen.

However, I have to save my money for:

"Space Battleship Yamato 2202:  Warriors of Love"「宇宙戦艦ヤマト 2202 愛の戦士たち」 This is the remake of the second season Comet Empire arc from the classic space opera anime broadcast in the U.S. as "Star Blazers."  The first part was already released in theaters, and, like "Space Battleship Yamato 2199," subsequent installments will be released as theatrical features over the course of the year or two.  The 12-minute sneak peak of the first part already had me hyped:

Sorry, Captain Wildstar, against a force like that, your pitiful Star Force and the puny little planet Earth are doomed!  Muhuhahahahahaha!

I'm hyped. So far I've loved what Disney has done with Star Wars, so I'm excited to see whats going to happen next. Also, the trailer seems to indicate that they are going to move away from the stuffy Jedi nonsense that has been a blight on galaxy and move towards a more neutral/balanced type of force user. Which is great!
