A thtread

A thread dedicated to facts. Facts about everything. Facts about ST or SC4, facts about yourself, facts about things you always thought people should know about.

You can either simply share the fact or even use pictures with an interesting story behind them.

To count the number of (useless) facts and some knowledge-sharing I would like to ask you to include the number of the fact being posted.

If I may start:

Fact no. 1

0339863.jpg

Did you know that this was the United plane that crashed into the South Tower of the WTC taken 8 years before 9/11

What makes it (even) creep(y)ier: The two towers can be seen near the tail below the rudder of the plane.

Fact no. 3.

Nelson Mandela was not removed from the US terror watch list until 2008.

George W Bush signed the bill in time for the Nobel Peace Prize winner's 90th birthday on July 18, 2008. Ronald Reagan had originally placed the ANC on the list in the 1980s .

Prior to the removal of his name from the watch list, Mr Mandela had to get special certification from the US secretary of state that he is not a terrorist in order to visit the country.

Did you know that British General Sir Isaac Brock was killed by being shot through the heart.  He did not have time to utter the words 'Forward the brave York volunteers' since he died instantly.  This story has circulated since the War of 1812 and recent forensic examination has shown it to be false.

Did you know there's a town called Sweden Hills in the Hokkaido Prefecture of Japan? Work began in 1984 after a swedish ambassador visited the region and noticed how similar the climate was to Sweden. Houses are built in a typically scandinavian style, featuring red wooden houses, and inhabitants celebrate midsummer every year wearing swedish folk robes.

With what? Wouldn't be surprised if they did that as propaganda to prove alcohol was the leading cause of Dementia and Autism, even though the latter hadn't been discovered then.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitchener-Waterloo_Oktoberfest is touted to be the second largest in the world.  It is only about half an hour's drive from here.  D'you suppose that this is because the original name of Kitchener was Berlin before WW I?
