Can't Launch SC4 Due to 'Cannot Locate the SC4 Disk' with ISO.

Hey Guys, so the title says it all. I'm having trouble trying to launch SC4 as I recently installed on my Windows 8.1 64-bit system using my Simcity 4 Deluxe burnt ISO images that I created in order to avoid damage to my original disks. I used CloneCD by slysoft to clone the images to a disk image file and renamed them to an .iso extension. However, I'm encountering troubles trying to run the game with the disk ISO mounted in Daemon tools lite (as the native mount says the disk image is corrupted and can't mount.) I did try using magic ISO as well, same problem except with native mount.

The installation works fine. Any Ideas?
Thanks for the help in advance! Any help is always appreciated.

EDIT: Installation was fine, however when I try to run the game from the disk image ISO (rungame.exe) in the play disk (Disk 2) nothing comes up. It works with a physical disk. However I am having another issue where it immediately CTDs...  Ps I've been reading So yea.

I might plan to  downgrade to Windows 7 if things don't go well. Since there's a lot of compatibility issues. Although I fear that won't solve the issue.

You did install this on another drive and away from the default installation? Seem that Win 7 and 8 don't like it when you install things as default.

When you made your image, you had to have made a 'full geometry copy' of the play disk.  It has some deliberately munged tracks as part of its 'security' system.  An old technique, but it works.  Your copy program has to copy the tracks, damage and all.

Right, thanks for the reply thegrindre and Nonny! Ive found a solution to this problem by using clone drive by slysoft as it appears that it is the only one that reads the protection layer. I used Clonecd to make my image from my original CDs. thanks for the help guys!

To bad I have to downgrade and reinstal Windows 7 for compatibility issues and practicality.

Daemon tools made my SC4 iso just fine, maybe you're using a different version, but it sounds like you've sorted it now anyway.

I don't consider Windows 7 a downgrade, however, the only specific problem with Windows 8 and SC4 is really to do with your graphics card/drivers, it can affect Windows 7 systems too. Before you spend a lot of time doing this (especially if you don't really want to), you simply need to check if SC4 works and runs with Direct X hardware enabled. If it does, all the other usual common problems are fixable, to start with make sure you are running SC4 on only a single core by using the switch -CPUCount:1 in your SC4 shortcut, multi-core processors are the #1 cause of CTD problems with the game.
