any one know how to lower commute times?

seriously havving problems, must have been a plugin i downloaded. but anyway heres my problem:

1. im doing the 1 city for industry only 1city for commercial and residential only plan. ie. all industry does not mix with comerce or residents.

 

this however is causeing trouble for commute times. even if i have an avenue loads of subway stations (they are not used near capacity) building still abandon.

 

its really starting to get on my nerves. i have made what 100? cities before with no probs but this regions is making me go mental nothing is working like normal.

 

the only modde lots i have actually placed are: the peg ponds canal set, (i have canals down town) and the 'hospital city' hospital lot.   and thats it (i have loads of others in menu and such but i havnt placed them yet)

 

 

any advice?

The best advice I can give is get the NAM (you said you weren't using any other mods).  Also, without seeing your city, I might suggest that sims will only walk so far to a subway station (I'm not sure, but I think it's 6 squares) and without parking facilities near the station, sims who are already in cars are not then going to use the subway midway in their trip.

A good way to lower commute times is a mix of road top mass transit and NAM. RTMT can be found on the stex (latest) or in the modding files section. NAM can only be found in modding files section AFAIK.

 

Do you have any highways in use? Those can help somewhat as can a good monorail network since monorail IS supposed to be the fastest mass transit system in the game.

the nam is for you also use the modern metro to bus station along with bus stops and ferries and monorail,el rail,ect

Bus stops.  Lots of bus stops.  Every 6 tiles.
