Connect Rail to Seaport?

After all my years of playing this game one thing I can't seem to figure out is how to connect the Seaports to the rail network.  Is there something I'm missing or is there some type of glitch in the game?

Here's one of my Seaports and when using the query feature it gives the impression that a rail can be connected to the seaport.

It looks that you have installed a mod of the seaport, so it is different of the Maxis one. In the original seaport, there is no connection to rail, even if the stripes on the model suggest it: the only alternative is to have a freight station directly aside of the seaport, and a rail line connecting it to another freight station that is fed with industrial mercancies.

Now, it is possible that your modded seaport could be capable of act as a freight station on its own, and even to connect itself to a rail line, but you need to find the original developer of the mod to know that, or at least, to find the read-me file that was packed with the mod.

The Maxis port certainly doesn't exhibit this behaviour, but indeed Pegasus' CDK lots do, that said not every lot has a direct rail connection. Usually there will be a tile with rails leaving the lot as a visual clue, drag rail into this connection and your rail freight can now drop everything at the harbour.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Thanks guys. I had been using this mod for so long that I'd forgotten that it wasn't the original Maxis one.  It looks like I was missing a dependency file. Everything is working well now.

Honestly I wouldn't use such old lots personally, have you seen the latest CDK3 ports, much better IMO and include full rail connections (to specific pieces only).

If your freight doesn't go to the port, where does it go? Usually trucks will take the first connection out of town, although if it's close enough they should take the seaport route instead. Bear in mind trucks can deliver to seaports also, there has to be a reason for freight to use the seaport, they won't do so unless conditions favour that route.

thanks!  Ill give that a try.

Yes, I fully tested using freight truck blockers.  Only way for freight to leave the map would have been that port, and it would not take that route
