Hey guys. Finally got around to completing a map and would love to hear some opinions.

You can find it here:

I did not use any height maps and it was all done by hand. Since I have not had a lot of time to actually play the game yet I would like opinions on what might need changed or added by those who have more experience playing.

Thanks!

It looks pretty decent from the screenshots but I havn't tried it. The hardest thing for me while making maps has been waterflow, either getting good currents at sea or trying to not get weird tidal waves in rivers, if your rivers work and all the connections are set up properly you're good to go. There's no right way to make a map, some people like adventure maps, some like hyperealistic and exact ones to recreate cities on but I think if you yourself enjoy playing on the map you should feel satisfied. The only thing I can think of that you could improve is to include som more things in your description in the workshop, other than that it's just aesthetics and that is up to you really. For example, I could tell you to make more smaller and fields because I think that it looks better, but maybe you dont think so or can't be arsed to do it and that's just fine, it's your map!

Great map. I agree on what 1Runar said.

When making rivers and lakes, it's best to put it on full speed and let it run for a while until the water stabilizes. For example when I made the northern lake in my map, that entire area got flooded. If you don't know better you would panic in that situation and think you would have to make changes. As long as you set the water level where it shouldn't spill over the shores you should be safe. Most times it takes a while for the water to flood and then recede. For rivers, it's best to have a smoother bottom for faster flow. Just my 2 cents.

Catchin22- Nice looking map BTW.
