Hello all, I just purchased this game, I've only managed to get into the game once. Every other time it just stops loading and freezes. Also the music is real choppy. I played a bootleg copy first and it was fine (107b) It was completly removed prior to the legit copy installation.  Now I hace 107c, the real deal, and I get all this grief. All my drivers are up to date. I have Win 8.1, plenty of memory. Any ideas what may be going wrong?

Bootleg copy?  If you're in the habit of downloading pirated software, you may want to run your anti-virus programs.

Try uninstalling the program.  Go into appdata (it is hidden) and delete the colossal order folder to hopefully eliminate all traces of config files that have been corrupted from pirated version. maybe run CCleaner to remove everything.  make sure you run the registry cleaner also.

If all else fails. tell win 8.1 to do a fresh install from scratch.  factory reset mode.

That should clear up all issues.  Just backup before hand.

Stay away from pirated software and you should have no issues.

Hey thanks for the reply Mark, I had thought of that, so I did a fresh reintall of Windows 8.1 . When I installed the purchased version, thats where the issues with the game started. The laptop is vertually empty, cept for anti virus software. This seems to be a game issue?

I think you just need to be patient. The game freezes when it's about half way in the loading process. This freeze can take 1 to 30 minutes. How much RAM do you have?

This sound like it eliminates the game as an issue.

What are you computer specs?  Video card, memory, cpu, etc.  If it an oem computer (dell, HP, gateway, etc.)  then please post the make and model number.  If it has a generic model number like say pavilion x360.  Try looking for a more detailed model number on the back of the case or somewhere around your computer.

Graphic card seems really low. And trust me, 6GB is not plenty, that's bare minimum.

But seriously the game also tend to freeze on my decent machine when loading, especially with all those plugins... Certain plugins seems very "vicious", even adjustments that you don't suspect it will break the game, it DID break the game.

However if you having hang problem even with clean game... hmm...

Here's something odd, when I block all my mods from working, the game LOADS fine. So I decided to remove almost ALL the mods through Steam and now I get a black screen when I try to load a new city.

And another strange thing. The file where the mods are is empty.

Sounds like might have a corrupt mod somewhere.  You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.  Your computer, while not quite meeting the recommended specs, is comfortably above minimum specs, and should be able to handle a few mods alright.

You've got a mobile NVIDIA GPU, have you set up Skylines to use the NVIDIA card from the NVIDIA control panel?  You may have to set Steam to use it as well.  Otherwise the game might not use it, and will run on the integrated graphics.

Ultimate, you were right. I let it boot up. Took about 10 minutes, but the city finally loaded. It works well. It takes awhile to shut down too. Anyway, thanks. And thanks to everyone for all their inciteful suggestions. I really appreciateted it!

    You're welcome.

This was the first time my bad RAM actually helped someone. :P

One tip here, try reaching at least 16gb of ram, will be greater for loadings. Plus, this gonna allow a little more memory to your system and games.
