One thing that is really important is when selecting your gray scale map, click on the icon to the left of the name and not the file name.  This seems to be the only way to select the file for rendering.

It's simple. Clicking OK in the window and nothing. Earlier there was no problem. Not all maps work.

What does it mean"icon to the left of the name"? I found nothing. Can is there another way to implement in game?

Are you sure you are attempting to render maps with a grayscale image? The game needs a correct grayscale .jpg image to render. Many maps are made using SC4 Terraformer that must be rendered with SC4 Terraformer or SC4 Mapper for game use. These may include images that are not grayscale. What map(s) are you trying to use?

As for the 'icon' mentioned above, it's probably a reference to the small file or folder picture next to the file name in the window. However, I've not experienced the need to select the picture. Clicking file names has always worked for me.

OK, here are the requirements for using the in-game renderer.  See if you might have missed a step.

    1. You must have created a subfolder in your C:\<your account>\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions folder with the name of the new region

    2. In this new folder you need the grey-scale map (must not be an RGB type file), and the config.bmp (name exactly required) files.

    3. The sides of the grey-scale map must be 64 * <corresponding side of config.bmp> + 1 in pixels.  If all this is met, then ...

    4. Open the game, and move to the new region.  A flat layout corresponding to your config.bmp is displayed.

    5. Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+r.  A file dialogue box appears.

    6. Using the controls of the file dialogue, navigate to the folder containing the new region.  A list of files appears with a separate column on the left containing icons (symbols).

    7. Left click on the icon corresponding to your grey-scale map.  The name transfers to the file box (second from the bottom).

    8. Left click OK.  The dialogue disappears and the busy hour-glass appears.  The render has started.

Do not attempt to switch away from this.  The render must run uninterrupted until complete.  Go play in the traffic until it is finished.

If this doesn't work for you, please post the URL of the map.
