Hey guys.

Here is my V.1 of a sunken highway. Hoping to have modders in the future to make sunken walls or something. Crossing my fingers.

Tell me what you think! I've done this in the map editor. Currently working on my own map.

I assume this was done by planning the map out completely in the map editor rather than sinking it on an actual city tile?

Looks lovely however it was done though.

This was done using the terraform tool ingame (work in progress).  Its possible to make concrete walls using FX2K's brush tools. Just dosent look all that good:)

Actually I think the easier and cleaner way of digging ditches for road is... Road Anarchy mod. It allows you to [page down] below ground level.

Though there is a problem - you gotta do it short segment at a time, hammering your PgDwn key like mad. (it keep wanting to go to surface)

Although I can build flat road right across it, but there seems to be some visual glitch.

Anyway, I haven't experiment with it much yet, just playing it with a few minutes. Regardless - BACKUP your save game first!!

    Glitches...

    <snip> (PgDn 2 times)

Actually you can go from ground to elevated (PgUp 3 times) above the median area, and then go back to ground (PgDn 3 times). This will create a realistic on-slope type overpass. The reason with the number is that the network has to have a clearance of about 9 meters.

Edit: my bad. you'll also need level brush (from Terraform Tool) to sample the level of the sunken area and lower the ground under the pillar.

Took me a while to fully understood it but... Guess I get it  :D  Thanks.

Attach an image in case someone also scratching head...

The only thing with the road anarchy mod is that it could break things down the line if you inadvertently use an 'illegal' slope and then remove the mod (or, leave the mod installed and it conflicts with an official update down the line) and then you lose your city. What I'd really like to see is some modified terraform tool that allows us to dig trenches like we did in SC4, and then you just have the modified terrain which wouldn't conflict with anything and break your save.

Or, optimally, leverage the road system. In the 'Some Roads' mod there is a 'planning road' that doesn't cost you anything, or do anything, until you upgrade it. Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a 'sunken highway' planning road, that you laid out on your flat land like a normal highway to plan out the whole route, then you 'upgrade' it to a 'sunken highway' which would dig a trench along the path of the roadway and then automatically add the proper ground level highway within it? That would be epic.
