Embedding images from the Steam cloud

As Cities: Skylines is bound to Steam, this includes an easy way to make and store screenshots online. Unfortunately, Simtropolis doesn't allow for embedding Steam images directly, probably because the link doesn't contain a file suffix. It looks like with this Cities in Motion 2 example:

You can embed those images in your posts up to the post preview, but you are not allowed actually submit that post. Is there some safe way to allow for such links? It would make CJ's and similar much easier.

Managed to get it working by embedding the image as normal, then enabling "HTML mode":

(Resized to 480 x 270)

Although as you lose the WYSIWYG formatting, this perhaps isn't an ideal workaround.

Hmm. I usually then disable HTML in the next step, which enables bbcode. So there may be options to edit then, and then enabling HTML again.

Is resizing necessary? Usually the forum does it by itself. I've already posted lots of 1080p images here.

Edit: But I have some other pressing matters to look at now. My game download just finished :).

Yes, it would seem the forum's auto resize doesn't work with HTML mode enabled:

So as it stands, you'd really have to adjust the size manually in the HTML.

I would think that HTML mode is a promise that you know exactly what you are about, so everything is left to you.

I see. As you said, that isn't exactly ideal. Choosing a size like you did makes the image much too small on my screen. Using the Steam cloud is mostly about convenience (and bandwidth), and that convenience would be gone this way. I know how to circumvent this with putting a thumbnail image as a link into the post, but that's even less convenient. Oh well.

But thanks for looking into it. I thought there may be a way to allow this, as the posting prevention seems to be more of a permission issue than a "the forum software cannot do it" issue, because the post preview with those original links works fine.

It would seem that this cloud business is rather primitive compared to other photo-storage sites.  Recently imgur adopted a no-charge policy for everyone.

I use imgur. As I said, it's a convenience issue. You press "F12" ingame (you can remap it, so I switched to "Ctrl-F12 because of SC4), and you are asked whether you want to upload the images as soon as you leave the game. You can then choose what to upload or just upload them all.

I constantly use Steam Cloud images on other forums, as it's basically no effort at all the way it is integrated with playing.
