um, okay, is that usually because the team has a moderator, or because they ask for them? I remember when muzz asked for custom labels for the SU, and it sounds like what he said the reception of that was quite icy. (althoigh the SU isn't a team, mind you).

Some teams have labels.  Some do not.  Some members on some teams have labels.  Some do not.

We found that people were joining teams just to get the label and then doing nothing to help the team.    Several people lost their labels due to inactivity on the team.  (and, no, they are not yet all on the Former Members list here.)

 

Now, it takes more than simply saying you are on a team to get a label.

Boy, do I agree SkiGeek. They should be earned not asked for.

 A pattern of dedication too ST over-all, such as Jacqulinas' , gets a well deserved monicar.

 

Alkaola: Their dedication shines through the new label, so it is very important to the community, IMO.

Just a funny know: there are 213 label carrier's (counted above could be +/- 1 or 2)
and there are 90,928 members at the moment I'm typing this so.......

so that makes that 213:90,928x100%= 0,23425% of the members own a label (simply 0,2%)

well, maybe you should watch out. Such custom member label gives you status, something very popular among a lot of people.

I'll just wait and continue my work on Bats and the Hong Kong Bat Team, and maybe one day i'll get one too, but i don't ask for it, you must deserve such things and they are not to be asked for.

Let me clarify what the people above have stated. In general, do not ask for member labels. DEFINITELY do not post in this thread or ANYWHERE on the forums to ask for one. However, if you feel you have made valuable contributions to the community and have not been noticed, it is possible that an exception may be made. It may not be best to ask directly. Ask someone on the site who is not an admin if they think you deserve a custom label. If many people think so, then have them do it for you. If you are asking yourself, be judicious, be VERY judicious. PM the correct admin and if he/she turns you down, do not ask another. Do not specify what you want - leave the deciding for the label up to the admin in question. And ABOVE ALL, ONLY do this if you really think you are being neglected. It isn't I made a BAT that everyone likes, I deserve a label. Not even I made 5000 posts, I deserve a label. Inordinate label begging can get you a label that you might not have wanted - as happened with iamrobk, who is now banned.

To sum-up. If you value your life, don't ask for a custom label. This is the safest policy. Only ask under certain special circumstances. It also helps if you are on good terms - not even neutral terms - with the staff.

To admins: Have I spoken out of turn? Or is what I said all right? And didn't I hear somewhere that huskerman's label used to be Pink?

Nobody can ever say for sure since the values are on occasion altered slightly by the admins, just so that no one can make such a list.

Actually, now that golfbunny's gone, I don't know if this is still true, but it probably is.

I have the values for when I achieved each generic label, but they won't be entirely accurate not only because of the altering but because there are some labels around now which weren't when I went through said phases, and some which I just never reached since I got Custom labeled.

Since it doesn't contain the word Modd or Squad, and doesn't really imply Modd Squad membership, I don't put it there. It doesn't matter whether or not he's a member of the modd squad. What matters is whether or not he has a modd squad label, which he doesn't.
