Yeah: why isn't anyone?

I mean: all the workers are either:

A) Using the subway/ElRail (a 35% of'em)

B) Coming from OUT OF TOWN!!! (the rest of the workforce)

I should point out that the freeway is the only thing that connects the city to the industrial zone and only eventually I added the ElRail network: before that, every worker just came from out of town!

I did the "drawpaths" thing and everything seems to be in order...

Clueless! :lost:

I may be wrong, but this could have something to do with the NAM installation options. I know I set Mass Transit Usage to High(European) in the Traffic Configurator and that made most of my sims prefer not to use their cars and instead look for bus routes and other alternatives, again, not sure if this would have anything to do, but it could be!

I think sims consider a mass transit route  to be shorter commute than the same distance by car anyway.  Have you tried removing the mass transit connection and see if they start using the highway? I'd save before trying in case you get unwanted results such as  mass unemployment.

The fact that only 35% of your sims from this tile work there may be because there are no jobs left since your neighbouring sims are taking them, you'd need to zone more industry for them.

Also, make sure you dont have Basically most of your sims are hopping on trains and other transport and going on a happy commute trip to neighboring cities since they consider this "closer" than driving to the industrial area, some of them will find "closer" stuff than even going there by mass transport.

Anyway, just read about Eternal commuters, lots of useful info on how to plan your networks and towns to avoid this problem.

"The best (and only) way to avoid all this that I've found, is to be very careful about the region layout and city connections, so that circles are impossible. For any two cities, there is one (and only one) route between them. I build industry at the outer edges of the region, to serve as a "sink" for all those wayward Sims who get pushed out there. Otherwise, I'll get into commute trouble eventually. Grid-cities that connect their grids across city boundaries are an open invitation to commute circles, as are pairs of neighbor connections near a city's outer corners."

Put a break in the subway/el rail line, and see what happens.

You are welcome, Tony.   When in doubt, ask your computer.
