Hi.  I'm new to this forum, after having lurked a while.  Theres a great community on here.  I've become a big fan of SimCity4 in a relatively short period of time, its the creativity it allows for that i really love, and it just happens to be the most relaxing game ever.  I've recently started to create a proper region tile by tile.  This is going to be a slow-burning CJ, but i'll try and update it as often as my work allows!  A whole load of modds and plugins have been used, as i'm sure you'll see.  This taster pic is from Pines, the first community of East of Eden to be created, set along a wide, wooded river inlet, that eventually leads out to the sea...

Welcome to Simtropolis!

I can tell by the look of that pic that this city journal will go far if you put the effort in. Great, stunning, work!

Please though, lower your pictures to 800X600 or less. I tend to like 640X480, but just make sure your pictures are not higer than 800X600 in the future, Thanks!

    Thanks!  There are a few nice farms in Pines, mostly old farmers hanging on in the face of new development.  East of Eden is a region of contrasts.  A few years back an observatory was erected at the top of the mountain overlooking Pines, across the valley from the sleepy farms...

     obs2.JPG

    If you look down you can glimpse the edge of Pines, with Steinbeck Elementary and Lenny High nestled beneath the wooded mountainside...

    The scientists posted to this mountain retreat do a little hunting from the observation post, or train their scopes on the football matches below...2.gif

    NB thanks mike, i'll resize my posts from now on! forgive me for these 1.gif

    Now, a closer look at the centre of learning in Pines.  Steinbeck Elementary and Lenny High are at the leading edge of new development along the East of Eden valley.  Kids in these schools will be the new high-tech workers and service providers in the new era of East of Eden.  For now, the sleepy schools offer a comfort blanket, shielding them from a fast developing world...The only worries are sports games and tests...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//two.JPG align=baseline>

    But just down the valley, expansion is under way.  Heres a glimpse of the future...

    Thankyou!  I've just been working on Melt, a small farming community even further down the inlet towards the sea.  Here, the local church is the focus of the community, which only numbers 90-odd souls.  Heres an evening shot taken from a passing hot-air balloon...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//church.JPG align=baseline>.
    The small number of houses are settled on a hillside leading down to the shore...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//houses1.JPG align=baseline>

    And now the farms, and the nature trails that draw visitors from Pines down the coast...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//farm3.JPG align=baseline>

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//farm2.JPG align=baseline>

     <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//farm1.JPG align=baseline>
    Alas, the onslaught of development continues.  Next time, we'll see new development around Melt, as planners seek to establish a commuter town, in a prime position between the sea and inland.

    Thanks.

    Nice CJ so far, Fug. Just so you know, that post up near the top asking about the angel with the flaming sword is a reference to the Biblical passage stating that God put an angel with a flaming sword east of Eden after Adam and Eve were evicted.

    This is an extremely unique CJ, and a great start if I've ever seen one! You have a very nice building style and I look forward to seeing more from you! The trees look great, and so do the pond and just the design of this city! 48.gif

     Now, a bit of an update on the development taking place opposite Melt on the other side of the river.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//river.jpg align=baseline>

    A major highway is being constructed to act as an artery to the sea.  The first piece of development to take place has been a service station:

    I'm a fan of that water tower. It gives the entire town a much more authentic rural feel (I'm not sure why, maybe life is so slow out there that they have to amuse themselves by building water towers shaped like fruit), and I've never seen it before. Great job!

    Hi

    Heres a shot of the region so far, at the moment i've terraformed 3 large tiles, and 1 small.  Coming soon: the new port facility built down the coast from Melt.

    what happens there with the pictures is if there the same name
    one picture will over ride the other that happened to me
    once i put a picture online in a forum and one day i checked back
    and there was a different picture so i attempted to save it and to
    my surprise it was the same name i had used on mine so i ended
    up having to change the name of my pic and reupload it and after
    it was fine it didn't get replaced again, so the best thing to do is
    use your name in the pictures file name it saves you problems later.

    Wow such a lovely start to such a grand rural C.J.!29.gif44.gif

    Well I'm not here as much as I once was,but I still know greatness when I see it and I see great things in this C.J.s future.The farmlands and small shoping areas are realistic and very belivable.The use of walls in your C.J. may be a little much at times,but you balence it well with all the trees near by.The bridges are perfect!

    This is also by far some of the best use of Peg new lots aswell.The stream and trails also look good where they have been placed.The region is very realistic and great form what you have terraformed.I like how wide the river is and how it looks with hills is so realistic.Your talent is good with terraforming and your city building kinda reminds me of Digby and my second C.J. Callisto.

    Great work and I'm keeping an eye on this one!29.gif44.gif

    This region looks like it is developing nicely, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with all that space. Also, coastal cities seem to be in our future (not just on the inlet). Nice work.
