Power Problems

So in my piddling city of 83K Simizens, I'm struggling with power problems. I have FOUR count 'em, FOUR power plants, and yet I'm still running out of power. I have two solar plants, a coal plant, and an oil plant, as well as two instances of a downloaded "Waste Management Drop Off" utility which produces some power by burning trash. All of the power plants are maxed out on funding. My city's tile is about 75% full, but far from built up as far as large buildings go. There is a lot of high-tech industry and commerce.

So what are your solutions for keeping your city powered? I prefer an additional power plant or power-alternative BAT, rather than a cheat. I read a week or so ago in a thread about 1x1 power somethings...but I can't find that thread anywhere.

Industry needs power, and well every citizen does. You might find it "too much" to need four power plants for a city this size but in SC4 it's quite the norm.

This is probably the thread you are looking for,

Alternatively you can just put multiple power plants together and think of them as a single power plant.

Pretty sure most real power plants are far larger in space than the SimCity power plants. They also generate far more power.

A power plant of the types offered by Maxis are rather piddling.  I am from Niagara Falls and have toured many of the plants there and a few nuclear plants as well.  My BAT power plant is probably the most realistic one considering the size of a large tile.  Even the old Canadian Niagara plant above the horseshoe falls generated enough power to run several industrial parks.  Most of these were making Aluminium Oxide refractories with electric furnaces.  The 25 Hertz power supplied by this plant made these furnaces fairly quiet as opposed to some of the (hotter) 60 Hertz furnaces.  My tokamak ring does the job quietly, efficiently and uses water as fuel.  Oh, and cheaply too.

Yeah, to fix this the only real solution is to mod. Either increase the power output of the default plants (as in the other thread Lennson linked to), or download something that suits your tastes. This is what I use:

Try power plant.  It should take care of most of your power needs.

You could also use use iLive's Reader to increase the power produced for each plant (as I did).

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. The flower shaped plant suggested by Prophet42 is really pretty, but 1 million simoleons? Holy smokes, my city has never seen a million simoleons. LOL I just unlocked the nuclear power plant in this city, so I'm holding off on adding any mods just yet but looking into all of the suggested ones.
