I believe you can cause taxi's to spawn if you have hotels, airports, and train stations built in your city. I believe the Casino will spawn taxi's as well.

Konstantin did a good job compiling a list of cars and I have another one to recommend. If you want to build New York circa 1980's and 1990's, I would recommend the best taxi of all- the Checker Marathon! There are two versions which include and

Thank you KonstantinII for the links!

Thank you airman15, i'll follow your advice, and, wow you have got some great mods! Nice.

I have another question though. Is it possible to build a tunnel passage under buildings? I need a highway passage under the UN building, something similiar to this:

Is it functional or just eyecandy?

Well, there are ways. For the best possible looks, I'd use the Avenue FLUPs, but unless the building is an overhanging LOT, it won't be possible to make them functional. You could make a tunnel, but it would become very overscaled and probably not too urban-looking. I've tried my own NYC rereations before and, believe me, it's difficult.  :dead:

    Cool,another NYC Fan :D

As for the Tunnel under the UN Building,i used fatherted`s street to Subway Conversion Tunnels. They are street ramps that go underground and work as a subway station.Just connect both Tunnel Entrances with Subway and you will both keep the Look and Funcionality. That`s how i build every of the Tunnels in my SC 4 NY.

If you want i can post a pic of my UN Building Area to show you what i mean and how it looks.

Edit: Hey Ana,this is what i meant:

As you can see,the Tunnel Entrances will work as Subway Stations. If you use them you better try to separate the actual subway traffic and the Tunnelentrance-Subway converted Traffic from each other.

If not there might be a weird commuter usage and the Tunnel Entrance will have bad Traffic Jams...

oh yes,  i almost gave up... diagonal bridges, tunnels everywhere, underground rail to the central station, highway to bridge intersections ect....

For the diagonal bridges, I don't know how they work, but most of the bridges in NYC run straghit, don't they?

The tunnels; use FLUPs or the things Hotwheeler described that I will have to check out myself.

Highway to bridge intersections can be tricky, if you're using Project Symphony. What I usually do is use the 15 m ground raisers where the bridge is to be connected to land, and then immediately an on-slope piece for that smooth transition into elevated highways. If you mean the places where the highways intersect with the roads, talk to Haljackey or Mandelsoft. I think they's love to help you with that. :)

Ugh,diagonal bridges. They gave me headache for days and weren`t really worth it.This feature is cool, but not is you are recreating NY and it`s famous  Bridges.

Luckily in the SC4 Bridge Menu there are many bridges that look like NY bridges, and i mean both old Metal Truss Bridges and modern ones.

And yes, most Bridges in NYC are straight, only the Brooklynbridge and the Manhattan Bridge are more or less diagonal.I cheated and made the Brooklyn Bridge straight, but i`m not satisfied of how the diagonal Highway Bridge next to it looks. This time a decorative Bridge would come in handy....
