To search for files on your PC, I'd recommend trying Everything (assuming you're running Windows).

 

When starting for the first time, an initial database of all files will be created, and then updated in real time. For example, if a new file is created, it'll instantly appear in the database. After using it for over a year, I've found it to be far superior to the Windows search, which I rarely use anymore. The main advantage being it's very quick and consumes minimal resources. It also allows filters & boolean operators -- useful to find files of a specific type.

IE is good in start menu, but not in desktop. Try Firefox if Google won't work. There's a lot of good crossovers. Or try Mathox Cloud Browser.

I got the impression you wanted an Internet search engine, not a local search.  For local searching, proper use of windows explorer should do the trick.
