Brown boxes on Maxis buildings

Hi guys,

This is my first post on the forum, so sorry if I'm screwing up or something, but I tried searching for my problem and can't find it.  The problem is that I've wrecked my SC4 Deluxe cd, and whatever computer I install it on has brown boxes on the same buildings (I've tried re installing on the same computer too). I'm pretty sure that those files are just corrupted but since I got my SC4 in cd form, there's no way to repair it.  So I'm wondering if theres any official repair game function for the it that I can use so that I don't have to download a crack.

Thanks!

The best thing to do if your disk is damaged is to purchase the digital download version of the game (1,1,641) from a game vendor (Amazon, GamersGate, GOG.com, Steam or Origin).  The last two will provide a non-standard file structure so be aware of that.  This version is fully patched and diskless.  Installs in about five minutes.

First uninstall your present version.  The game will preserve your user area.  When you install the new version you can just continue where you left off.

If you watch the game sites for a while, you will find the game on sale for less than $10.

Welcome to Simtropolis Mista_Fuzz

Yes, I would agree to download online as A Nonny Moose said. Steam's game file locations can be very confusing:

Hmm. I copied my game from the laptop to the dekstop. It was purchased in steam so I thought that I could just copy the game files as what I have read. Well, I am quite right, the game is running but I have a problem with Maxis Bldgs. There are some commercial buildings that I cannot see. I mean the lot is there but the building does not exist. What am I lacking here?
