I just watched my whole region cave in on it's self.

Ive been working on the region for months since i got the game. and everything was working and then the population exploded. First my cities all ran out of water, then it all went down hill from there.

is there anyway to stoop the population explosion? also is there anyway to make it rain to keep the water table full? It never rains in my cities.

I'm so depressed i actually joined this forum to tell you guys! ugh!

You may recycle water by placing the Water Pumping Station next to the Sewage treatment plant. For population, I believe you may have to increase the wealth level. Do you have alot of low wealth high density buildings?

I did the whole water filtration thing. It only slowed things for a bit. and I actually had high wealth across the board. only one city was low wealth and as soon as i plopped down a few plazas, $%&^! hit the fan. Like i ran aout of room on the plots

Weather is random, some maps get more water than others.

If you have the expansion pack, you can use sewage recycling plant to add water to you region.

Increase your taxes, should slow the population growth while filling your treasury.

    1. You need to control population growth by limiting the density of your roads. If you just open the city to all development you're going to end up with overpopulation.

    2. Place your sewage treatment plant next to your water pumps so you recycle your water. On river maps, build your water infrastructure near the river for a stronger natural supply.

    3. Try to develop your infrastructure at least as fast as you grow your population. In particular, make sure that you have education capacity, as educated Sims consume fewer resources and create fewer problems for your city.

I only just realized a month or so ago that the only difference between medium and high density non-avenue roads is what buildings develop on them.  They both have two lanes in either direction.  You don't get better traffic flow by upgrading it, just more population along the road, clogging it further.

Actually high density roads do have slightly longer green lights at intersections, but other than that, yeah there are no traffic benefits to upgrading. Unless you have UDON installed, you're very limited in how much you can increase road capacity without going for avenues.

Did you also know that cars on medium density avenues can't cross the barrier, but high density avenues can?

    The more you know. ;)

Use lower density roads, and make smaller blocks so that the buildings on them cannot reach maximum density for the plot.

Place more parks and plant forests.  Parks will increase the value of the land and attract higher wealth which typically does not come in the density numbers as lower wealth high density buildings.  The forests should, if they modeled it right, attract more rain.

I was playing whack-a-mole with the water table and only after the nuclear meltdown because I didn't realize that I needed to add an extension to my community college, did I realize after destroying the city and letting it heal for a few years that the water table will replenish itself over time.  So it takes time but you will need to buy water from other less dense cities in the region as well.

    Sharr??   Good to see you!

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. Yes, it has literally been a decade.   Our kids from back then are all grown up.

I agree with this as a possible solution, but it's a frustrating limitation of the game.  In SimCity 4 zoning density was independent of the road.  So if you had a really busy road, you could change it to a one-way or an avenue, while keeping low or medium density zoning.

I wish zoning density was independent of road type in SimCity 2013.
