NAM 32 Installation Problem - Windows Defender

I am trying to install NAM 32 and after the long process of required patching, etc. NAM prompts me to put a flag *something something RAM* and I accept, then Windows Defender starts going insane detecting a couple harmful items. What is happening? I want to have NAM work with all the RAM it needs, but I am not sure about what it is doing to my computer that Windows Defender really minds. Can I add an exception for it? Is it even normal that this happens?

Thanks for your help!

Wrong place to post, sorry.

As for windows defender have you tried uninstalling the program or something? I have it installed in my computer and nothing went wrong. Maybe its just that program hindering you from installing. Some anti-virus programs do that I think. I'm not a tech wizard so... Hope everything works out though.

By the way, what's your computer specs? Is it an old or new computer?

Best of luck though!

Oh my bad! I'll head over to the SimCity 4 forum. My computer is pretty new, although very standard specs: Windows 8, 6GB RAM, Intel Core i3-3240 CPU @ 3.40Ghz. I actually re-tried one more time and this time it worked :S Must have been something shady not related to the NAM somewhere...

    Thanks for the reply!

Completely normal. The NAM has to make some changes to SC4's installation, which, if you have really strict security settings, can set off some bells and whistles.

That said, it's always a good idea to run some scans on a regular basis, especially after downloading big things like the NAM (though I assure you it's completely safe when downloaded from SC4D or Mod DB). I recommend Malwarebytes for scans. Free to use (though it will whine hard at you to try to get to to buy premium service.)

Really something to be set for apparmor in Linux.  It can tell the difference between some trivial patch and malware.
