Hello folks,

Im new here and to the SM 4 deluxe game.

My question is the following.

I have made all my regions and i want to connect already two of them.

So i build a road to the border of the region and used the option to connect it to the region next to it.

The yellow arrow on the road appeared like it should be.

But after saving and closing that region and going to the one next to it i cant see one single part of a road with a yellow connection arrow.

So my question is how do i connect these 2 regions and the road exactly if i cant see that yellow connection arrow in the region next to it?

Thanks already.

You cannot connect regions to each other. You can only connect the cities within a region to each other.

Yes you can connect a road to a non-existent city outside of your region boundaries but it doesn't really do anything. It only provides another route for your industry to get freight out of your city and it does increase demand a bit and it generates a few jobs as well. Basically it simulates a small city. Just like if you connect your city to a blank city tile.

But i can use another region to provide power/energy or food etc etc for a city in a region direct next to it isnt it?

Or am i forced to build powerplant etc etc in the same region as the city is in?

Ok this is clear to me but why cant i see the connection arrows in the region next to it with the non existens city in it ?

They not appear on or in the other region.

There are cities, and there are regions.

Regions never interact. Cities do marginally. It would be unrealistic to have an entire region without some domestic power supplies or water/waste treatment systems. Even in the new game (SC2013) regions don't interact directly; all services must be regional.

It's not really clear, if you think about it, why it would be logical for a neighbor connection to SimNation to show up in a "neighboring" region? I have about a dozen regions currently, and in the game they're listed alphabetically. However, it's pretty clear that simply assuming the next region on the list hardly qualifies as neighboring; one region is set in a fictional universe, and the other region in California. These are hardly similar, and the geographies don't match up either; it's not really defined as to what the "next" region would be that you're connecting to. Regions that would be functionally close to each other aren't in the game list, so even then my imagination must substitute for the game's deficiencies, as there's no way I can tell the game that these particular regions are "neighboring" and interact in RL.

If it's cities you mean, always be sure to click the Reconcile Edges button in the god mode menu to make sure that the game syncs any road, power, water, etc. connections, something that it might not always do automatically. This practice is good on hand terraformed regions as well to ensure visual consistency between city tiles.

There remains some open water here.  I am quite sure you mean city not 'region', but what version of the game do you have?

Most of us are using a fully patched version of the game with a build level (version) of 1,1,640 or 1,1,641 (which differ only in operating protocol).  A level playing field is always good.  So did you load your game from CD or download it from an authorized vendor?

It's only for cities in a region to have road connections.  I believe that when you open a new region it's just starts a fresh new region with no other regions around it.  You can however pretend that the other region is next to it.  That's what I have been to my regional area.  I'm in the U.S. and I was making a California state region, which I opened several regions, but even though I can't connect, I just had to pretend that they were next to each other.
