Installation Question: Cities XL Help Please...

I have a stand-alone computer with no internet connection.  [Am using cheap laptop to pose this question].  Can I buy the Cities XL disc and just install it to play or does it require an internet connection in order to register it or meet some other requirement of the game creators?  I seem to require I had to register or something [internet connection essential] in order to play SimCity 4D even after buying the game disc.  Thanks in advance for any information.  I really appreciate it!!!

 

My current gaming computer has Windows XP OS and I disconnected it from the internet when XP was no longer supported.  Just use that computer for games now.

The technical FAQ reveal that a manual activation is possible by obtaining a special serial number:

 

ACTIVATE MANUALLY THE GAME

You can activate manually Cities XL using a Manual Activation Key.
You can get a Manual Activation Key from another computer with an Internet access or from a smartphone.

1. Run Cities XL.
2. Enter the Cities XL Activation Key (Serial Number) from the activation window and click "I already have an Activation Key" on the bottom left.
3. Click the link http://activation.focus-home.com/
4. Enter the Activation Key (Serial Number) then the Hardware Code (from the game activation window) then click Activate button.
5. Copy the Manual Activation Key.
6. From the game activation window, enter the Manual Activation Key and click Next button on the top right.
7. Once the game activated, click the OK button and run Cities XL.

 

The only thing is the code might only be valid for the Platinum Edition. Not sure if this will work on the standalone game.

Thank you for your thoughtful and detaiedl reply!  I am a bit of a $%&^! where computers are concerned, so please correct me if I have not understood you correctly.  Are you saying that I can use my low-end laptop to register Cities XL and my stand-alone unconnected desktop to play the game? 

 

Do I need to insert the XL disc into my low-end connected laptop to register and then . . . reload the XL disc into my stand alone gaming PC to play?  I cannot connect the stand alone to the internet at all since it is still running Windows XP, which is no longer supported.

 

Forgive me if the answers to these questions are already contained in your excellent reply to me or that my questions are stupid.  I don't believe my laptop is technically capable of running the Cities XL game.  I want to thank you for taking the time to consider my questions and for your previous work on answering them.

Yes, I believe that's how it will work.

The way I see it, you'll first need to install Cities XL Platinum on your unconnected computer. Then open the activation window and there should be two codes displayed: the Activation Key and Hardware Code. Write them down or take note of these. Next open the link on the other PC and enter them in the boxes. It says this can be done from a smartphone, so I don't think it will require the disk. You should then receive a manual key which can be used to activate the game.

Since no internet connection is required, this code will be a unique sequence that the game (hopefully) accepts.
