Brought to you by the same nimrods that won't let you carry a 12oz water bottle onto a plane (because it may be an explosive), but find it perfectly suitable to just toss it into a trash can alongside many others (even though they all may be explosives?) in a busy airport with a far greater potential for collateral damage than just one airliner.

 

Maybe some day we'll all realize we've had enough of this foolishness.

It's not like airport security, aeroplane security and aerospace defence was subpar before 9/11, a lot of lessons were learnt from the 70s and 80s when there were quite a few plane hijackings and bombings. In the 90s commercial airliners had cockpits which could be sealed from the inside the moment there was any trouble on the plane and if an airliner deviated from its flight plan for more than five minutes, military jets would be scrambled to intercept the airliner on a very short notice.

 

A good pat down and some sniffer dogs are you need to ensure people don't smuggle guns, melee weapons or explosives onto planes. Anything else is just overkill.

All the mechanical contrivances in airport security are due to the general dislike of people to being touched by strangers.  For my taste there are too many X-rays, Y-rays, and P-rays.

Quite frankly all this airport security is silly. If you want real proper damage to your foes bomb a city not one plane... Thats like shooting down a ship or tank. Destroy rome not one roman vessel

It has only worked because the US and the UK government went so overboard in enacting anti-terror laws, this was complimented by the media always mentioning plots being discovered by police and the good old terror threat level. Al Queda were first created by the CIA in the 80s to help assist the Afghani Mujahideen fight the Soviets, the result was the Soviets defeated and Afghanistan -- once ruled by a government -- become divided amongst various tribal leaders and Taliban warlords.

 

Since then Al Queda has remained under the leash of the CIA and the Saudis -- thanks to Osama Bin Laden being part of a very wealth Saudi family -- and in this day and age more particularly the Saudis. The Saudis use Al Queda as their proxy to wage war against Shia Muslims: which is why there is so much sectarian violence in Iraq, why Syria is being steadily destroyed and why the Saudis hate Iran. The war on terror has been a horrible overreaction on the part of the US government. I wonder why such ardent efforts to 'destroy' Al Queda didn't arise after the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing or

 

Besides 9/11 shouldn't have happened since firstly when the planes deviated from their flight paths they would have been intercepted by military jets, but for some reason the planes couldn't be tracked despite having transponders, and finally the SAM systems surrounding the Pentagon were never used. Al Queda had incredible luck and even more so considering that the hijackers who were operating the planes had flown were small monoplanes, the hijackers sure were quick to learn.

 

Ultimately 9/11 was just another excuse for the US empire to flex its muscles, and the world has not been made safer due to its actions.
