Everybody: Thanks for comments! It was a short... hmm... a long time ago when I posted the last update, but my hard drive said 'adieu'... But data was saved, so the city is not lost 1.gif But it is necessary to remake all the custom staff I made for it 8.gif it means hours and hours with Lot editor...

Thank you all for your kind comments, merci beaucoup!!! I really appreciate them 19.gif
But there're some bad news - I checked all the thiings and found out that some very important lots were missing after my problems with hard drive, and... Yeah, I don't have anymore those nice fountains you can see in the picture 8.gif I tried to find them in STEX, but... My heart is broken... If someone else knows - please help me...

Anyway, it's time to start a new life, here're some first results:

Many students were complaining that city colleges were totally outdated, that they're even going to organize demonstrations if I woun't make some reforms... So I started to think, what and how to do... Well, not exactly I personally... Yes, yes, I did almost nothing... But who cares - I was the one who cut the red tape 9.gif

    citycollegeqt2.jpg

Looks quite boring? No students? Lets have a look at it during the break - some playing basketball, some drinking Coke, Bonaqua or Pepsi (some of them, who are opposed to globalization - Evian or Montavit 2.gif), some eating sandwiches...

    /idealbb/files/Break3.JPG

More updates to come... well... if my secretary will prepare them...

    Sincerely yours,
    Simbourgeois
    Mayor of Belleville

P.S. cogeo: could you please resize that picture in your post, otherwise it will be probably deleted, sorry... The original pic I put there was too large so in my post I resided it manually, but as I see, when coppied it's getting too large again...

Well, another day - another update 1.gif However, it's not in a form I wanted, because my secretary didn't prepare no materials for it... So I'm just placing here an excerpt form 'Belleville Daily', which writes about the new prison in our city. I liked this article, as my name there has been mentioned there with due respect. I like when journalists write what a good Mayor I am, he he...

    newprisonkv9.jpg

After the opening ceremony I took a flight with helicopter to see how does it looks from abow. And you know, I was quite surprised...

    /idealbb/files/New

Not a bad place where to spend some time 2.gif  The only thing I don't like are those bloodhounds you can see near army jeeps...

    /idealbb/files/Bloodhound.JPG

In the case, if journalists will find out all those things with corruption, I already reserved a cell in third floor with a nice view to those lakes... Ooops 6.gif I hope that you didn't hear that...

    Sincerely yours,
    Simbourgeois

Everyone knows that ignorant, misinformed, uneducated people are quite easy to govern... That's not the case in Belleville 7.gif... Ooops, wrong smilie, this one should be there: 1.gif
Today I receiver a survey done by the Bureau of Statistics. And there I found one rather interesting table showing that my simcitizens want more say in important government decisions...

    /idealbb/files/Postmodernism1.JPG

Yeah, when majority of people were explicit materialists, it was easy to govern them. If there were some problems - a bit more of  € and no more problems 19.gif But now, it's getting more and more difficult. What to do with people who are organizing their own popular poets society?

They even sent this maudlin advert to me...

Wow, great use of custom buildings! I love the little details you put into the city. Do you use a terrain mod? It looks different. I also love your use of water and avenues. And a regional picture would be appreciated, but excellent job so far!

Hmm... Quite a long time since the last update - it's really no nice 7.gif I'll need to teach monsieur Hagege a lesson 27.gif He's chief manager at the information department, and I ordered him to update this thread regulary... But I wount annoy you by telling about my problems with clerks - I've something really nice to show you 2.gif
Three months ago I started to search for a place for a residence for me - yes, a new one (hmm... One, two... this one is a third one 4.gif) I wanted to get a house in the city centrum, so that I could take a stroll in warm summer nights with mademoiselle Noi... Ooops 36.gif That's not for you, I 've already enough troubles with all those papparazzos...
So... Hmm... Where I was? Oh, yes! So I got one, a real beauty 9.gif NO! Not a new girlfriend, a new residence 44.gif Look yourselves, it's number 1 in the picture below...

    bellevillemaisodumaire18jn.jpg

As you can see, this 18th century villa (I was told that it was started to build already in 17th century, but completed in brick by northern Italian masons only a century later) is situated in the very centrum of the city in Avenue Est (number 2 in the picture). Yes, as some of you already noticed, there's now a channel going through the city - that costed for the city funds quite a solid amount of money, but that's not so bad, as I took some pence from education budget 11.gif
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you the best thing about this place - that's the building number 3 in the picture, in which there's situated a local pub 39.gif As you can guess, I'm a frequent customer there 17.gif In those evenings I dress up as an old grumbler with a beard, so that I can get some scotch without any worry about journalists. And yes, there's also a church nearby. But about that cathedrale called Notre Dame de Belleville I can tell only one thing that it's quite annoying when all those thousands of tourists take photos there, especially during night time - I get rattled from those flashlights 22.gif But I understand them. I shall admit that it's rather nice 34.gif Ok, ok, immensely beautiful, if you want me to be pompous...
Here are some other photos from different angles

    bellevillemaisodumaire21wq.jpg

    bellevillemaisodumaire36ks.jpg

Sometimes I'm going to the theater nearby. Usually they're playing quite a boring stuff, but last wednesday Comedie Francaise played Moliere's Miser. Well, actors were good, not bad... But the play itself 28.gif I didn't get the point, why all the people where laughing and furtively watching on me... I don't understand... Maybe they take me for a miser 6.gif What a shame, if so... Anyway, keep waching these nice pics:

    bellevillemaisodumaire51no.jpg

Yes, I forgot to say that nearby is also a railway station - the central one. You can see it on the other side of Avenue Est, in front of my residence. But about all the rest - another time (when I'll chasten monsieur Hagege...). See you around in Belleville! Have a nice time here 1.gif

    Sincerely yours,
    Simbourgeois

    Great City!

i love those french buildings and everything so european

    but i have 2 questions..

    1. how was Mr. Simbourgeois elected as mayor? or was he appointed by the President? cos as far as i know, mayors just don`t show up to another city and hold the highest office just right away.

    2. where did u get those focus zx3 from? and/or all those customized cars?

i mean, i`m not trying to be rude but if this espectacular city is of the people by the people and for the people, why Simcitizens didnt get him elected????

    thank you Mr. Simbourgeois 9.gif

Thanks, Simjurgen, for your comment, I appreciate every feedback, even a critical one 19.gif However, I must indicate some important points regarding my appointment procedure. Fi rst of all, I would like to underline that democracy is a process, a process of interaction between state and citizens, between public administration and individuals. In Belleville, where I've immense honour to fulfill my duties before all the citizens in the post of Maire (or Mayor), citizens are happy, all the human rights are ensured, and everything goes well. They can get in contact with local government in every moment (of course not with me, he he... Ooops, I didn't mean that 43.gif), they get all the necessary information about the decision making process. So simcitizens in Belleville are happy. I would like to quote Jean Jacques Rousseau, who has said the following about the elections: The English people believes itself to be free; it is gravely mistaken; it is free only during election of members of parliament; as soon as the members are elected, the people is enslaved; it is nothing. In the brief moment of its freedom, the English people makes such a use of that freedom that it deserves to lose it. So not the electoral process itself is the most important thing, but the way how people are treated in evryday life - yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Mutual respect is the most significant link between me as a Mayor and all the bellevillois.

    Yours sincerely,
    Simbourgeois
    Mayor of Belleville

P.S. Note, that I'm so ceremonious in my response just because I received information from M. Moutin who's director of Pays-Beau intelligence service that you're nor a bellevillois nor an inhabitant of Pays-Beau. Otherwise you would get some five days of public work in city parks as warning... 17.gif The real reason, why I was appointed to my current post of course was money, a lot of money. But for me, as a well-known financial oligarch in Pays-Beaux 10.gif , it was rather easy - just a little work of lobbying, he he... Why it was so important for me to get there? Well, Belleville, as a capital city of Pays-Beau, is the economic center of it. So it's the last step to the post of the Head of State. At this time we have a president, but to be honest, I don 't remember his name... Hmmm... Nop, I don't remember 28.gif It just indicates that he's not such an important person here as I am 12.gif
I almost forgot about those customized cars - they can be found here on STEX, and also in this page: http://props.freeservers.com/index.html
