Your Welcome.9.gif

I hope im not the only one inspired by this city and some of these city journals.[:0] I wouldn't say im experience nor a rookie. But after looking at this wonderful city and some of the others, it somehow inspires me to build my city so it can be up there with the great ones. I love the buildings in belleville are made. It makes me actually WANT to live in it. 4.gif

    Welcome to the 4th page !!!
    Bienvenue sur la page 4 !!!

    Thanks timo, Dannato and TheGuardianAngel for your comments!

    timo: Monsieur Jean Monbel, the director of the Planning department, asked me to inform you that the Stade de France will be certainly built in Belleville's Olympic district. However, at this moment it still is stuck somewhere in the bureaucratic corridors... But I personally wanted to say thank you for realizing that magnificent project 19.gif

    TheGuardianAngel: Here's a phone number of one of the Belleville's real estate brokers - Monsieur Jacques Bingen: +542 294 8729 5783 012. You can ask him if there're some convenient offers for you at this moment.

    Thanks again for your comments!

    hahaha...17.gif...this last posting is hilarious!! You have a great sense of humour, as well as a style for creating a very nice city. My mayor has decided it would behoove him to ring up Monsieur Bingen on his amazingly and excessively forgettable telephone number (because it's sooooo long) to procure some property in Belleville for his holiday getaway home. Thank you so much for providing a beautiful city and the lighthearted dialogue. 18.gif

    Thanks, threeswept! I'm glad that this CJ has amused you 19.gif You know, laughter increases the number of natural killer cells and activated T-cells, the cells needed to fight off infection or disease. It has also been shown to block pain and reduce stress levels 17.gif

    Anyway, now lets get to a place where no jokes are acceptable: 'Creusot-Belleville'. It's a giant of military industry. You haven't heard of it? Well, that's quite possible... But you certainly remember shocking liquidation of  France's largest privately owned engineering conglomerate 'Creusot-Loire' in  1984. No? Neither do I 20.gif But I'll tell you how the story goes. The failure of 'Creusot-Loire' was the biggest industrial bankruptcy in French history. The company had run up debts of more than $633 million 6.gif So the Paris comercial court ordered the liquidation of it. After that nobody in Europe ever heard about it anymore... But when Belleville's hawks got the information that some of the top engineers of the famous company came to Pays-Beau to start a new life, they thought that it's the right time to bring back to life the old tank factory, which was established in Belleville already in 1908. But because of the lack of new ideas, at that time it was almost lifeless. So 'Creusot-Belleville' was created 29.gif But enough of history...

    In the picture you can see the old factory. Not so large as you imagined? Looks old and rusty? I agree with you 1.gif But it was written in the statutes of the new company, that it's forbiddent to demolish the old buildings as the heritage of industrial architecure. I personally find it to be rather stupid, because they look quite ugly, but I was not the mayor at that time...

    /idealbb/files/182.JPG

    As you can see, the factory is situated near the district I showed you previously (the post about farmers market). Those old proletarian houses were built mainly for the workers of this factory.
    'Creusot-Belleville' has many other plants across Pays-Beau, this is just a place where the new tanks are composed together; all the parts are made elsewhere. In the next picture you can see how a new tank is being finalized.

    /idealbb/files/243.JPG

    But don't think that Pays-Beau is one of those countries supplying weapons to the Third World countries. It has never exported not a single pistol 20.gif Pays-Beau even has never fought in wars. Oh, I already hear your question: Why then you've that Arc de Triomphe showed in the first page? Well, it was built after the so-called battle of Belleville in 1879, when the Britishers wanted to get Pays-Beau as another colony. But when they saw the myriad of bellevillois with catapults, they got frightened and turned back 17.gif Until then, Pays-Beau even didn't have its own army...
    But when it was established, every young sluggard wanted to get in it. Good French wine at every lunch - not everyone in Pays-Beau could afford it at that time 20.gif Of course, as you can see, nowadays wine is prohibited in army, but the idle lifestile is still there...

    /idealbb/files/340.JPG

    One could ask, how then 'Creusot-Belleville' can even put two and two together, if it's not exporting arms? Well, the domestic demand is quite high 19.gif The public procurement in military sphere has always been a significant column in the balance of Pays-Beau budget. Why? Well, I guess that 'lobbyism' is the key word there 2.gif

    Yours sincerely,
    Simbourgeois
    Mayor of Belleville

    P.S. timo: I believe that there will be enough space for it in the Olympic district 19.gif

    Thanks jasperdeman.nl, pitch, TheGuardianAngel and Simjurgen for your comments 49.gif

    timo: You can get a region shot - just contact M.Hagege 19.gif He will probably send you to M.Lenoir's office. He's the director of... Hmm... I don't remember the name of that department 22.gif But don't worry, you don't need it, because M.Lenoir will send you to M.Cavaignac's office. He will send you to M.Basfroi who will book in your request for a region shot 19.gif Then you just need to wait until someone will respond to you 2.gif

    But now it's time to continue our tour around Belleville. Today we'll look at the building which symbolizes Belleville's financial might. It's the old headquarters of Societe Belleville - the largest bank in Pays-Beau, the second largest in the World 19.gif Now the headquarters have been moved to the new financial district, but in this old building a local branch of the bank is still working.

    SB.JPG

    Societe Belleville was founded in 1798, when two of all those rich aristocrats who fled from France after the Revolution in 1789 - Dominique de Paresseux and Henri de Chenapan (you can see them in the next picture) - finally agreed to establish a bank here. So the Societe aristocratique de Belleville was founded. In late 19th century it was renamed to more modest Societe Belleville. But all those bankers are the same - an enormous horde of loan sharks...

    SB2.JPG

    But I shall admit that the building itself is really nice 19.gif And I like that they haven't changed much in the interior, as you can see in the next picture. One can still feel the atmosphere of those old days...

    SB3.JPG

    Sorry, I can't tell you anything about their financial offers, because I've placed all my 'savings' in offshore banks 17.gif

    Yours sincerely,

    Simbourgeois

    Thanks, mayormommy, but... How to say... Well, I was... Ok, I'll say just that I was not elected, but appointed - after some months of intense lobbying 10.gif

    And that slogan City of the People, by...blablabla was approved as official symbol of the city already in 1812 (you can see that 'glorious' moment in the picture below). So nothing to do with nowadays 20.gif

    AN.JPG

    Assemblee Nationale de Pays-Beau voted unanimously for 19.gif as these were words written on a battered peace of cloth found in the pocket of some loafer who was killed during the riots of 1797...  Now it can be found in the city museum.

    Thanks again for your comment 19.gif

    Sincerely,

    Simbourgeois

    You better cut the pizza in fou pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six.
    Yogi Berra, American baseball player

    Bah oui, it's time to have some pizza 19.gif And the best place to go in Belleville is the Bistro Roman at Avenue Est. Well, I don't know if you prefer Italian or American pizza, but there you'll certainly get the best Italian pizza in Pays-Beaux. As you can see in the next picture, Vittorino Roman, who owns this bistro, is even a member of the Assoziacone Pizzerie Italiane

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Pizza%201.JPG align=baseline>

    But don't forget to reserve a place there beforehand, as there're so many people who want to taste some of those renowned pizzas of M.Roman 19.gif What can be better than a pizza cooked in a brick owen with a oakwood fire...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Pizza%202.JPG align=baseline>

    Sorry, but I must go now - I've reserved a table there at 14:30... Oh, almost forgot to say: BUON APPETITO!

    Best regards,
    Simbourgeois

    Thanks jasperdeman.nl and gobucks6 for your comments!

    I see that many people are becoming frequent visitors to Belleville, but I haven't still showed any of all those nice hotels you can find in our city. Therefore this post will be about one of them - Delavigne. It's one of the finest hotels in Belleville, I should say in Pays-Beaux 19.gif

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Hotel%201.JPG align=baseline>

    It has reputation for comfort and charm, for friendly and efficient service. That's why so guests of our city are returning back again and again to this hotel when in Belleville. And I can assure you that this is not the case when the advertissement says old world charm, but in reality it means no bath...

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Hotel%202.JPG align=baseline>

    Have a nice stay in Belleville!

    Thanks, newyorkrunaway1, bobinator, TheGuardianAngel, Simjurgen and Anubisx0, for your comments and support 49.gif Monsieur Francois Vemet, administrator of Hotel Delavigne, called me to inform that they've had in this week so many new clients who visited Belleville after my previous post 16.gif

    xDbonex: I should say that I really think that globalization should take some other path - all those active partisans of it should be a bit more concerned about the needs of people... But until it will be so, we need to use all the benefits we have already, one of them - Simcity 19.gif

    But now it's time to show you one of the most important buildings in our city - the Central Railway Station. Built between 1882 and 1889, simultaneously with the similar building in Amsterdam, it's situated at the very centrum of the Centre-Ville, at the Avenue Est. Why it was built at the same time as the one in Amsterdam? Well, it was an international civil engineering competition, and Belleville, of course, won it by finishing it one month earlier than Amsterdam 3.gif

    Railway1.JPG

    A true architectural masterpiece, it's still the central point of all the railway system of Pays-Beaux. But if you don't know where exactly you want to go, you can sit down at cafe Chez Panisse and think fow a while... until you'll decide 2.gif But don't be late...

    Railway2.JPG

    When arriving in Belleville, the easiest way to get to your hotel, friends house or other place is to take a taxi. You can see them in the next picture. But many of bellevillois still choose bycicles...

    Railway3.JPG

    If you're one of those over-refined highbrows who read IHT, NY Times or Le Monde at the morning, you can get them at the kiosque nearby. But I prefer to read about the newest Citroen model, not about some abstruse social problems...

    Railway4.JPG

    Finally, what you'll get when you'll buy your ticket? Well, a cosy place in a modern and a safe train, you can see it in the next picture. And then you can go wherever you want - the World is yours 1.gif
    And yes, I can assure you that authorities think with all the responsability about the safety in the station. As you can see in the next picture, even an army jeep is on duty day and night.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Railway5.JPG align=baseline>

    Bon voyage, see you in Belleville!!!

    Yours sincerely,
    Simbourgeois
