It's not much you show, but it's certainly original! I like that newspaper style, how did you do it? Made it in Word? And how do you insert the pic then without ruining it when you try to resize?
Hope this entire cj will be made up of frontpages...

Khm, khm... Dear visitors and members of our Simtropolis community, I warmly welcome you to our friendly city - Belleville, a city of the People, by the People, for the People!!! This will be the official city journal, where you'll be able to get all the necessary information about it - from information for tourists to practical advices for those of you who are planing to stay there for a longer time. This journal is my first initiative I'm undertaking as a new mayor of this city, and it certainly will remain as an ultimate priority of my agenda. So, be welcomed here, I'll be glad to receive all your comments!!!

    Always yours,
    Mr Simbourgeois

Goshhhh.......... I just came back from vacation (well, yes, it was during my first week as a mayor, but... but it's necessary to be in good form to be a good mayor...) and thought that it would be nice to visit my city... O la la... Everywhere there are strikes (oh yes, it was necessary to cut down a bit the budget for education because... well, my new limousine was quite expensive...), garbage on every corner etc... Look at this valley of tears...

EDIT: Sorry, guys, these two images are lost forever...

Even municipal buildings are in a terrible condition...

I even don't dare to read local newspapers... I'm affraid that my new job woun't be as easy as I was expecting...

Well, I'm quite proud of myself 9.gif After very (very) boring City Council session, I decided that I need to undertake some important reforms... At the first, however, I decided to have a coffee brake, but... Well, the view from my window (you see the Hôtel de Ville in Avenue Nord)  was so disgusting that I decided: it's necessary (at least) to clean and renovate the surrounding area... And, by the way, it wasn't even so difficult... just some of our schools and hospitals will have a bit longer strikes, because I took the money for that from their budgets (they even don't know about it, he he he...) 2.gif

EDIT: Picture was lost... But I'll replace it later with an updated one

In this screen-shot you can see the very centre of Belleville - Place de la Liberté with world famous Arc de Triumph. At this point I really don't know all the historical nuances about this monument, which is so important for all the citizens of Pays-Beau (if you didn't know it already - Belleville is the capital city of this country), but maybe I'll ask my advisers... Four avenues which are going from this place are crucial for the traffic system of Centre-Ville (this is the central part of Belleville), because after some km they continue as highways - going straight to to the all parts of Bays-Beau. So it's really the centre of our country... And all those suburbs, with stikes in schools etc., well, I'll take care of them later...

What can be more romantic than a promenade in Centre-Ville during nightime... However, I don't dare to go any further than this district, where the Palais de Justice (Court) is situated. There are a lot of policemen all the time so it's quite safe there...

I haven't been yet in other parts of the city in night, but I presume that it's not the best thing to do... at least until all the necessary reforms will be implemented.

Things are not going bad at all, at least for me: today I had dinner with... Oh, I'm not supposed to tell my private life here, that's for journalists 2.gif So today I had very busy agenda: 1) I was... Hmmm, I don't remember... Oh yes, I was doing all the day... almost nothing; I just visited one district of Centre-Ville: Faubourg Saint-Antoine. I was told that it's one of the most beautiful and cosy areas in our city, you can see here the overall photo of it:

    /idealbb/files/Faubourg

Everyone would like to live there - it's nice and calm , not far from old centre, and shopping centers are nearby, as you can see in the next picture, but...

    /idealbb/files/Faubourg

... already in 1970s it was decided that no new houses can be built there anymore. So it remained a district of wealthy middle class bourgeois. I really like it, as there are parks and lot of trees everywhere, one can find harmony there... and apples I bought in the farmers market which you see in the next picture were so delicious...

Everyone is asking for money 7.gif But I (the city budget in reality) don't have it so much (well, I have, but I need to make a new pool in my hous... ooops, I haven't said that, you misunderstood 43.gif )!!!
Anyway, as I need at least to imitate some action, I realised two projects - both intended to make the work of our police more effective. Here you see the outcome...
The first is old commissariat in Avenue Sud, which is just renovated and technicaly reequiped:

    /idealbb/files/138.JPG

The second object is newly build police station in Faubourg Mailot - absolutely modern and well-equiped. They even have their own helicopter...

    /idealbb/files/213.JPG

Hmmm... I should buy one also for me 19.gif

I've been said that more and more citizens really enjoy to live in Belleville due to it's nice parks and green forest areas. Here you can see a pic of the Faubourg Blanchot, a nice middle-class district not far from Faubourg Saint-Antoine. I haven't been there yet (I had a quite busy working day - all those coffee brakes...), it's just a picture my advisers gave me in order to show how nice it is to live in our city.

Hmm... In these last days I've been doing so many good and useful things for
our city that for at least a year ahead my simcitizens will certainly
    admire me...
Here you can see a central building complex of Université de Pays-Beau,
renovated after my iniciative. Although I don't like students (they're always
so liberal in their attitude towards government and so radical in their actions),
I like to see my name on a golden plate in the central building 2.gif
But students are happy now, as they can enjoy a promenade in a forest nearby
while reading Giovanni Boccaccio (I don't believe that tey're reading
something else...) or to drink a glass of ice-cold mineral water from
vending machines during the session time:

    /idealbb/files/Uni

I even allocated some money for those yellow vans for students' excursions or study trips and cosy limousines for old professors...

Today there was another session of City Council where the situation with the Petition to Maxis was discussed, and it took an unanimous decision to make a public campaign in order to rise the level of participation... So I, as a mayor of Belleville, solemnly ask you, if you're visiting and reading this CJ, please go and sign in the following thread: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=55003  ; if Maxis would hear our desperate voices and fix all those things mentioned in that petition, our cities would become even better!

    Sincerely yours,
    Simbourgeois

Ugh... I've been quite busy these days in replanning the transportation scheme in Centre-Ville, so that's why I haven't been posting any updates so long time (as you can imagine, I've also some other duties, not only those of the mayor...). The old centrum and main avenues will be remaining, but I hope that it will be more convenient for my simcitizens... It's really a grand project I've been undertaking.

Nice way to start a journal. I like Faubourg St-Antoine and the fact that further development has been restricted.  And I like your style -- or how should I put it --, your cesarean attitude.
