I feel like I'm in some kind of crazy loop where I can't get a straight answer. So here's my question:

I've been uploading BATs to the exchange wrong, apparently; you can't just do what you do with a LE lot. From what I gather, I have to include the lot, and include the models. Does that mean (.SC4DECS) or (.SC4MODEL)? I'm guessing it's the latter, but I just want to make sure. I have a lot of patching up to do. >_>

If it helps the *.SC4desc file is made with the Plugin Manager so it shows up in the Lot Editor.   The *.SC4model file is what you get after you export the .gmax file with the gMax BAT program.

EDIT:  The original BAT was just the SC4model file, a Lot would need all three files.

Unless you are going to also include the SC4lot file, you would not upload the SC4desc file.

For growable lots, you need all three of them: .sc4model, .sc4desc and .sc4lot - or several lots, if you made more than one.

For ploppable lots, the information from the .sc4desc file automatically gets integrated into the lot file, so that the desc file is actually superfluous.

But of course, you still need the model. The lot doesn't contain the building itself; it merely contains reference information about which building model to display where on the lot, and in which orientation.

Actually, I don't understand how ploppable stuff can be released in a form that doesn't work. All it takes is...
    - renaming your regular plugins folder to something else temporarily,
    - making a new, empty plugins folder, which contains only the Maxis buildings as props,
    - adding the files of the BAT you want to upload,
    - starting the game and plopping your BAT.
If it works, you are fine, if not -> back to the drawing board. 2.gif

Btw, did you get my PM? I'm not sure because somehow Simtropolis doesn't like Opera 8.50 and acts pretty weird...
