Ok, so, now I've re-worked the ending of my story. I think it's a heck of alot better now than it was.

Aaron looked curiously up at the white wall that was blocking his path, as if he could make it move out of the way with his eyes alone. Unfortunately, it didn't move. He reached out and touched it with his undamaged hand. It was quite warm, and had a slight grainy texture under his fingers. He moved his hand up and down the wall when suddenly his hand and his wrist just slipped right through it, as if it was made of air. He yelped and snatched his hand back in shock and started rubbing his hand staring at it in horror. He looked up and stared at the patch in the wall through which his hand had slipped through.

This is...that is

I think rather strange thoughts and this is a poem from one of them called The World is falling

The World is falling
Like Never Before
The world is collapsing
into no more
The world is dying
and being put to rest
The world is failing
a needed test
The world is falling
into a demise
The world is dying
from a humans eyes

End.

Again I think your ending shows; that revenge is not so sweet. Great story, Boggy!

Another creative writing work.

Failing Science

Start off by doing that essay on Beowulf you forgot

instead of typing the growth cycles of a begonia.

Then, spend the period pretending the test tubes are spaceships

giggling wildly when the ship explodes on the surface of Lab Table Planet.

Instead of extracting the DNA of a pea pod

I just realised, I have a tonne of cool Sci-Fi thingies floating around that I've made.

Ok, the one below was written after I had just read a really good book, so, being bored, I decided to write an essay on it.

The Fermi Paradox

I am a great believer in extraterrestrials. I believed that extraterrestrials have visited the planet Earth in this century. I am now having to reconsider this belief.
I just finished reading a book on Fermi

Two poems... no titles.

-Untitled A-

I gaze inside myself and cringe,
The soul within -
Neglected, hidden throughout the years,
It has paled, shrivelled
A mere shadow of what it should be
Yet now the facade collapses
And I am exposed
You will see me for who I am
For better or worse.

-Untitled B-

I have slowly destroyed myself,
Squandering the years.
Fearing rejection,
I forged myself into something
that could not be accepted.
Fearing the loss,
I failed to gain,
and lost myself.
I've wasted so much time.
There is too little to regain,
drifting from day to day.
Lost.
Suddenly, a beacon appears on the horizon,
guiding me back to what I once was,
and what I could be.
Joy fills me,
along with sadness,
as I realize the waste,
the destruction,
the hopelessness.
I have returned
from my self-inflicted exile.
What's next?

I'm reviving this thread with a new short story.

Just a Door Away

      Ding.

The emerald doors to the elevator of the 15-story Daniels Building, located at Broadway and Fifty Fourth, opened up for its latest prey.

      Ding.

Jason, an accountant for the firm Marley and Herald, got on at the top floor, where his offices were located.  Unfortunately, these offices were also his home; in the last month, Jason had spent more time in the office than in his plush apartment on the Gold Coast of New Jersey Real Estate.

      Ding.

The Sci-fi ending of Just a Door Away ruined it for me.  Other than that, you have some promise as a writer, ginchael - the quality of the writing was exceptional.  You have a nice attention to detail, your dialogue is better than anything I can write, some of your descriptioins were amusing although the story had a serious feel.

I'll share a short excerpt from the short story I've been working on on-and-off for a month or so now.  Don't ask me exactly where I plan to go with this; the story so far's digressed completely from its intended points.  It's became a story of Hierarchy rather than betrayal...

One thing I wish is that I was able to write about subjects other than high school, but there's so much story material from experiencing high school that it's impossible to write about much more.

pickled-pig= Thanks a lot.  Funny, my Creative Writing teacher said the same thing...  Your story sounds very promising, and I cannot wait to see the end.  That is very true about high school.  Anyway, here's poem for y'all.

In Creative Writing we're getting into ekphrastic poetry--or poetry based on a work of art.  The song Vincent by Don Maclean is an example of an ekphrastic work based on Van Gogh's famous Starry Starry Night.  (This is the same guy who sang American Pie).  I've written two poems which take two different views of a painting.

Maybe someday I will finish posting the story about high school; at this moment, I have about 6 more pages handwritten that I still have to type into the computer.  It gets more and more absurd, however, until it reaches the point where it loses its seriousness.  (basically, it's about a conspiracy, and a stupid one.  Nate and his friends' only goal in life is to betray Eric.  But then, isn't high school stupid?)

Until then, a bit of something I wrote a couple nights ago concerning a fictional third-party candidate's rise to national power.  I have no idea where it will go from here... it's obvious that I never finish anything I write.

The room was bare, a collegial auditorium usually reserved for visiting lecturists.  The only thing ornate about it was the brass eagle hanging from the lectern, symbolizing the college

Hi, All.

I've really enjoyed reading everyone's stories, poetry and prose.  I think maybe I've found another home on the Web where I can get comfortable amongst NetFriends.

Don't have a bunch of time right now but I would like to post a littke poem I wrote years ago that pretty much sums up who and what I am.

As time permits, I'll start posting more of my work and comment directly back on all of yours.

Have a great day!

A short story that I wrote, to revive this thread.

The Homecoming

The world had been escalating into war for eight years, but time seemed to have moved backwards in dusty San Tiejo, New Mexico. Or, so it seemed to Anthony Jorhann, who hadn
