simcity regional view back round info wanted

way back in the day a guy name gizmo28 created the mars backround and had it seperat from the mars mod giving the main SimCity game icons and regional view a cool red brown icons anyway as I can no longer find that p[art of the mars mod alone does any one know of any other mod that changes the regional back round from the ugly blue and maybe the games icon bar from blue .

I do know that dobdriver (aka drunkapple) created a mod to change the regional background to a star pattern: Star Field Regional Background: in HD.
Inside there are two variations; a bright and a darker pattern -- only one which can be installed at a time. Although it's apparently HD, I've found it will run fine on software rendering.

 

He also created another one to match for the city background.
 
As for user-interface mods, you may want to try out This is a complete overhaul of the default blue game menus and icons. By the way, dobdriver is making a type that completely redesigns the menus, as documented here (yet to be released).

You can find Gizmo's SimMars UI mod on his SimCity 4 Mods site. You do need to register to see the Download link. Once on, you'll look under UI Mods in the download section.
