Functional modular airport

Hello..

I was wondering whether I could get a functional,modular or realistic airport.Something like the airport version of PEG seaports.Any ideas?

The largest custom airport set is the RMIP.  It's some work to make a full airport piece by piece, but it's the most realistic.  It's what you see most people using in the "Show us your airports" thread.

I went to STEX but didn't know the kind of RMIP to download.Is it the small airport vol 1&2?

RMIP airports tend to take up much of a city tile.  And if you do all this work, bear in mind that an airport is not used by commuters to get to work.  They are strictly cap lifters and eye candy with a few jobs.

When I get a demand for an airport, I use the default one.  Messing about with the ones that come as kits is not my bag, but others enjoy it.  They even have models of current airliners with airline paint.  They are not at all to scale because if they were you couldn't land most big jets inside a large tile.  5.656854249 Km is probably not long enough for those big cargo and passenger liners.

I wish there was a functional custom made airport too.  I have the same custom link that you listed above. I basically only see the airplanes take off & land but everything else stands still

If wishes were horses, everyone could ride.  If you want a functional custom airport, first learn to BAT and go from there.  Over in the Builder's Forum there is a full BAT discussion and lots of material in the Omnibus.

RMIP has four packs:

One

Two

Three

Four

 

Then you need the terminals and planes:

 

Then there are a bunch of additional planes, taxiway packs, terminals, and accessories.  Including tiny lots that act as functional airports to "functionalize" your custom airport.

 

Just remember to get all the dependencies for anything you download.  It's quite a bit; as mentioned, the RMIP lets you create full-scale airports with all the intricate details.  It becomes a much larger part of the city-building process compared to just plopping them down as per Maxis.  But you do get all the realism and customization benefits.
