Hey all!

For a while I have been using the LBT Yucatan mod, but I am finding it a bit too green for my liking as I want to place meadows. Can anyone recommend me a nice lush (not too bright) terrain mod, preferably HD?

Something like the following examples:

Thank you for using my image :P The mod I use (I have mentioned it in my CJ) is this one. Comparing it with the mod I used before (the Columbus mod) it's a vast improvement (not as green and much more detailed). Not HD though.

I use the Olympic Terrain Mod, but I believe its a bit too green for your liking. It's also not HD at all...

As far as HD terrain mods go, try the Appalachian Terrain Mod, it's not that green, and is HD too. There's also ones by Gobias, such as the Sudden Valley and Berner Oberland terrain mods. There's also Pyrenean Terrain Mod from ToutSimCities.

I tried the Berner Oberland mod too, but I found the colours too light, a bit too much blue (in Dutch we say 'appelblauwzeegroen': apple blue-sea green). Well, to each his own, of course :)

I use the SVT mod by Gobias, and while it's not nearly as green as the Columbus Terrain mod I was using, I think I might switch to the Appalachian Terrain Mod by Lowkee because the SVT is a little too uniform in it's grass colors for my liking. I prefer a bit more variation, esp. coming from (and building) a Southern California region. The Maxis default seems to fit well, though the colors are a little off and don't really match what I'm trying to achieve, though I've seen some players use it and just a water mod, and had good results. It's obviously not green all over, and not really what you're asking for, but perhaps it's worth a look before you return to custom mods? Just to give yourself an idea of what you do and don't want color-wise (I'm going to try this out pretty soon, now that I mention it).

I use Appalachian Terrain Mod by Lowkee and i find it suitable for my region which is RL terrain of Warsaw in Poland. As You can see in first pic it works pretty well on plain terrain.

Ah yes, you did. My apologies! I thought for some reason you used the Appalachian. Off to test this baby, hopefully it looks good in my existing city.

Have fun with all this.  I don't have good enough vision to appreciate HD anything, but I wonder just how large a screen you are using to feel that you need it?

I find that most of the terrain mods that I've come across are much to green. Been using the Socorro Terrain Mod lately, but this one is too grey, though it looks good from region view.

Been searching for a more dried/tan look similar to the look in Timmie's image.

Your image is as close to what I've been looking for that I can find. However, when I installed it, this is what I get:

    v9zf.jpg

This is what I get when first booted after install.

This is what I get when I raise the land 1 lvl

This is what I would like to be the majority of the ground texture, like in your image

The texture I want seems to be in between the two predominant ground textures.

Did you mod the dat file to allow that particular texture to be so predominant?

Did a bit more testing since you didn't mod it. Ran the mod by itself, so there was definitely something conflicting with it that's in my testing w/ deps folder. Something I'll have to fuss with if i was going to use that terrain mod.

Since it was working better, think I found why I wasn't finding it originally. I believe your region's elevation is higher than mine, as seen in the image. It's the only elevation I could get such a large swath of that terrain texture.

There's a ton of terrain mod properties that you can tweak.  Lowkee33 over on SC4D has researched many of them.

There's also the lesser-explored Weather Properties, which affects texture placement.  I've recently used this to turn the original Columbus mod into a properly seasonal terrain mod:
